I think you mean I-91, not 93. :-D

This isn't MBTA service territory, thank goodness. :P

Stamford's definitely the busiest station between GCT and NHV; might even be busier than NHV as well. Platform monitors and loudspeakers abound.

Can't help with your operations questions as I am just a lowly commuter.

Rise and Shine, located in the southbound station house at Fairfield.

Doors open right onto the track 3 platform for added convenience when I'm running late.

I suppose I should add my goodbye photo to the thread as well. Seen at New Haven on April 2. byebyem2.jpeg Farewell, old friend. :( Your deliciously retro design lured me into the strange world of railfans. lol Yes, I did take this photo right side up but no amount of editing seems to save it from b...

PhoBo? Seriously? Everyone knows Pho 501 in E. Hartford is where it's at.

I can't believe I'm still friends with you after that comment lololol

Back on topic....why do I feel like we'll have a WeHa station in operation before we'll ever see a Newington one. :(

you can check it by zooming in on platforms in this document : https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/2647944/Operations-Metro-North-Railroad-Track-Charts.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; New Rochelle is 9 / 8 / 7 cars White Plains is 10 cars williams Bridge is 4 car...

New Haven Line rolling stock (M8s) can only run off of 60Hz AC; their transformers do not accept 25 Hz. Therefore, they're running on 700VDC LIRR-style from the phase break to NYP.

That's why the DC extension is necessary :-D

That said, it sure doesn't help out the college kids with the U-Pass. And, before we heap on them with "they're getting a free ride so they can suck it and wait", I'm pretty sure there's a mandatory fee for the U-Pass in their tuition so they still ARE paying customers. Yes, I am one of t...

Yesterday on my way home from the station I stopped at 7-Eleven and ordered two Big Bites to see if I was missing out on anything. I went in with low expectations, and I came out with even lower. As a gal who is known to spring for First Class on long haul flights and rail journeys of reasonable len...

Thank you! I assure you I didn't need my engineering degree to come to that conclusion, either. :P Honestly, the moment I know I'm going to be on a peak Amtrak HL train that's known to have capacity issues I pull out my phone, buy a ticket on the Amtrak app, and save my UniRail ticket for a later tr...

Let me throw another ticket type into the mix: MNR UniRail, which is the type I use about 99% of the time. I've never had a problem boarding either flavor of HL train with it so far BUT I'm going to guess that Amtrak sees it as just another "non-Amtrak" ticket. I'd be curious to know how t...

Why, thank you! Such service! :-D

If a reliable DMU could be acquired with sufficient effective HP per axel that exceeds a loco hauled train then the acceleration and consequently time keeping would be great. Of course if ridership keeps increasing the electrification of the route and then using CT DOT M-8s or similar would be call...

Yup. Making a go of things with used non-electrified equipment is kinda our thing. Electric gear is a whole different story. Also, if new equipment is going to happen you can bet it will be the same rolling stock as ordered for non-electrified MNR service (and probs on the same contract as an option...
