This from Masslive.com According to Pan AM most everything is done except for a few bucket list items. Amtrak will be running by the beginning of the year if the author got the facts right. http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2014/08/amtrak_passenger_service_ready.html#incart_river" onclick...

It would appear that despite the bitter cold (2 degrees and windy this morning) a crew of some sort was and has been working to put in what I am assuming to be the station track in Greenfield, MA . If I see them down behind the shop tomorrow I will wander down there and confirm.

Lots of MOW activity in Greenfield today, if I saw on high rail vehicle I saw 10 both NS and PAR. At about 3pm I saw a progression of track critters head north past my shop in the old FW Webb building

Oh. To the best of my knowledge, that deal predates PAR (or more appropriately, GRS)... doesn't it go back to the 70s? And free office space isn't something to sneeze at, but grand slam? The whole deal including the recent con river one certainly are. They sold the lines to the state, while keeping...

What is this Billerica masterstroke that keeps getting mentioned? To answer your questions only a few years late. They negotiated a deal, where they sold their shops and offices to the state, who agreed to provide them with office space free of charge forever. If the state needs to move them the st...

According to ABC news the train was parked and without a crew when it started rolling. It should be interesting to find out what really happened in the weeks to come

I don't know what's more amazing these pictures of the fact you can still see both of those cranes in operation almost 60 years later.

The plant cannot be converted to natural gas as the HG&E doesn't have the infrastructure for a large consumer like that, they'ed have to run like a 10" or bigger gas line to the plant, have a couple of booster stations and some jugs just to make it operable. The city most likely afford tha...

It seems like an awfully short-haul intermodal move. That being said, I think it would be great if it is traffic that develops and stays the course of time. It's amazing to think that this is the same company if he is ago they didn't want to seem to do any business at all. Like some one else said, ...

It seems they wasted no time putting these engines in to service. Starting yesterday( or maybe monday) every west bound mixed freights I see has at least one NS unit. It has also been my very casual observation that the trains seem shorter in the past few days .

Straight out of the Union play book, keep your job relevant at all cost. All the better if you can create a job for some one else in the process.

Some would argue higher speeds burns MORE fuel.
And they would be correct.

It's not supposed to be ready until 2014. I give them one full construction season and with a mild winter it should happen. As indicated, basically nothing has been done so far except spot tie replacement and dropping new rail. All in all not many man hours put in yet. Things should heat up in the ...
