The now defunct Toledo Terminal Railroad, made a complete loop around and through the City of Toledo, OH. Because of this loop it connected with each railroad (NKP, WAB, C&O, B&O, TA&W, NYC, PRR, AA, DT&I and D&TSL) that serviced Toledo, and because it had two crossings over the ...

This was discussed extensively on the PC Modelers Yahoo Group, and the PC paint specifications called for DGLE (Dark Green Locomotive Enamel) on locomotives repainted in the company shops. All new locomotives were to be painted black. The new GE U33c's ordered by the Pennsylvania were painted black....

First of all 60' and 86' Auto Parts cars were introduced in 1964, most of these cars were in the auto parts business and unless your railroad had a stamping plant (86' cars) or a auto parts supplier on it, you would not see them. Although some of the 60' cars were used in paper hauling business by a...

When black fades it does achieve a green tint as black paint is in essence all paint colors in the spectrum mixed together get black. If green is the predominate tint in the mixture then as it fades it will get a green tint.

My favorites are a tie between the T1 and the semi-streamlined K4 #1120.

Also, the P&LE Berkshires were also painted in Pacemaker Green. Scalecoat was going to produce Pacemaker Green paint but never followed through with it. A friend of mine had ordered it and after a couple of years the Stock # went away in the Scalecoat product list.

The NS Berks were sold to ASARCO (American Smelting a Refining Co.) through a third party. They were then converted to oil firing and then lent to the power short NdeM railroad to haul ASARCO's standard gauge cars. (ASARCO did operate their own narrow gauge railroad.) The tenders were originally let...

A couple of items: Everybody seems to have missed the MP Berkshires, which is not hard as they were rebuilt by the MP's Sedalia shops from 63" drivered Berkshires into 75" Drivered 4-8-4 Northerns. The Norfolk Southern Berkshires were an odd bunch of 5 engines, their weight was only 335,00...

As a matter of fact, I started for High Voltage Systems in 1973 and we worked for Toledo Edison up to 1975 on transmission and distribution lines. I don't remember the lines that paralleled the TT as well as those that followed the PC branch up to Ottawa Lake Michigan. That line had Myers single pol...

They will have fun removing that bridge over I475, I worked for ODOT when that bridge was built, and Railroad bridges are built like tanks to handle the weight of engines, cars etc. Much more substantial than a bridge for cars and trucks. They will also have to be careful, as there is an 84" se...

Terry, don't know if this helps or not. But the old Security Building in downtown Toledo was named the Nasby Towers before it was refurbished and renamed. Nasby Towers was named for Petroleum V. Nasby, a character in David Ross Locke's celebrated Civil War Essays.

For painting brass the best paint is Scalecoat I for metals. Primer is not needed and the finish is glossy so you don't need an extra coat of gloss for decaling. I usually bake the finish on the model, with the oven set as low a possible. Purchase an oven thermometer as the dials on an oven are not ...

The stone varies depending on location. In the midwest limestone is mostly used in the manufacture of both concrete and asphalt. Also depending on the type of asphalt being made there are various sizes of stone in each type. Ohio DOT specs for #302 base is #1 and #2 stone with sand and asphalt as a ...

Where Were Alco HH660's Used

Where did the Wabash used their 2 HH660's? With Atlas coming out with these, I wondered if I could use one in the Toledo, Ohio area of the railroad.

At least until the formation of NS almost all N&W locomotives were ordered with dual controls, so any NS locomotives that came from the N&W would have dual controls.
