Welded rail has been laid on the #2 track between Congress and Rigby East, as well as in the curve at the Wye on the number one. Ocean Park to Surf #2 track has also had new welded laid. Lots of materials and trucks have gathered at various spots on the Wells double project, with a ton of equipment ...

Never changes. Best plan I remember being told was working an EDPO. Coming up to Lawrence they tell me to grab track 9, 10, and maybe even 11. Lists were being sent to the office. I go in and every single car is a Deerfield except for a single Portland. I called and was like, "uh... are we sure...

I posted this in the Stonybrook thread as well but for context about this strange agreement I'll repost here as well. A week or two ago there was a little spat where a local servicing Sanvel asked to run around, and CSX basically just said no, you don't have trackage rights. Apparently in retaliatio...

Strange to see such a thing sent to the STB, it is not common for such limited rights. Obviously there is an agreement in place to take the train beyond to Lowell. The short answer is manpower was short before the merger, and because of that management used Pan Am's "Work as directed" contract to it's advantage by basically stealing crews for whatever the deem most important at any given time. It's basically turned every job into the spare board. The...

The turnover rate for trainee's is higher than it's ever been, and classes are smaller than they've ever been. They're managing to bring in maybe 4 people per class, and are usually left with 1 if any. Meanwhile the crew office is cancelling anywhere from 2-4 jobs EVERY DAY. They are grossly underst...

I’m disappointed to hear that csx mgmt wants to add 2d train pair via barbers but there’s no crews. With or without psr, staff shortages mean fewer trains RRs need to make their jobs more attractive Rigby just lost 2 engineers this week, people are continuing to leave in droves and I've heard Keoli...

Yes and it operationally would be nice if they figured out another recrew place so they could remove the yard limits to New Bond and get that to 25 too. Lately they've been making the former PAR crew that gets 426 go to Worcester office and wait for an available pilot crew from CP45, so they've bee...

Not sure if it's the one's your talking about because I think it was over a week ago but the last set of 60 Herzogs I saw posted about went to Waterville and got dropped somewhere up there. Not sure if it was east or west.

They may be in service, I haven't been out there as of late but the last time a train split in the tunnel that I can remember (within 2 years) they couldn't get a hold of the dispatcher.

OK Mr. Newpy, I'll accept your word regarding possible Hoosac cave ins. You've "been there done that" and I trust there are adequate redio relays through such that the Train Dispatcher would know there had been an incident to get your one-time colleagues "outta there". Unfortuna...

The rumored start of the B&E continues to not live up to the hype. May 1st is off the table, and while there was briefly talk of June 1st it appears that won't be the case as well.

Former scrap yard now owned by Casco Bay Steel does get steel. Internal Rigby customers are no longer in service. One has been gone for most of a decade and NEPW moved out of the other probably 5ish years ago? Around the same time as they left the Wells location.
