Went through Geneva today - I see wheelsets (trucks) where the dormant and disabled equipment rests in the yard. Engines moved around. Did something get scrapped? Where’s that Conway Scenic unit? Is a caboose missing too?

Last night: Yet another group of covered hoppers has arrived - 10 more of them. They were parked across the switches on the runaround west of Maple in Victor. Two GE’s tied down and quiet just west of the VI lead on the main. I believe this is the 5th group of cars brought in as I try to note things...

I found it yesterday. It’s in Palmyra just north of CSX on the east side of Route 21

Spotted an engine [2306] parked on the runaround in Victor just now so I did the drive-by to see what was happening. Second engine and at least two covered hoppers stopped just passed the switch into Victor Insulators 13:20. Checked again on the way home; nothing left behind. Cars that had been in p...

A pair of NS engines were facing south today in Geneva tied to a pretty decent train (maybe 30+ cars?) stretched up through FGLK yard. I passed through there between 11:00[am]-12:00. I had stops in Ithaca and then Branchport but didn’t catch any action passing the line again later in the Watkins Gle...

Just for clarification - Freshour Rd runs between towns of Manchester and Hopewell. Rt. 332 (Canandaigua - Farmington) was rebuilt into a 4-lane divided in 95’ I believe.

Saw coal eastbound passing over Scio St. just before sunrise Friday (or was it Thursday?). A buddy also mentioned he had seen coal quite recently here. It’s sure been a while for me.

The end of the track servicing Victor Insulators has been torn up as of Friday 10/25/19. Looks like fresh ballast right next to Rt 444 going back to rail-less ties where it had been becoming quite overgrown. Excavator on site. Most startling to me was the Ontario Central plow and LV wooden boxcar we...

Went down to check out the roundhouse again and saw fresh primer on the lonely pair in Manchester since Sunday. One gray one red. New hoses and knuckles. Love surprises like that. A Port-a-john has been picked up by the roundhouse. Maybe they’re done over there?

Judging by the work and two sticks of rail in place by the Manchester caboose, I’m betting I’ll see something new on display every time I run to the grocery store soon. Side note: just noticed the two boxcars on Merrick Ave. have new air hoses and knuckles. Maybe I didn’t notice when they were last ...

OMID parked a bunch of center beam flat cars between Salt and Phillips roads yesterday I believe. Saw the headlight and the cars weren’t there last week when I dropped roofing at Xerox... Looks like two sections of the cars approximately 25 total. Tried to count them through the trees at highway spe...

High Winds Stopping Freight?

Double stacks parked on the CSX Main in Rochester. Is there a threshold wind speed that stops traffic? After last year’s mishap in Batavia I’m curious what weather-related rules do they have in place?

Or... do they still need the West Shore? I haven’t sat in Fairport or Chili recently enough to observe.. are they using the West Shore as an expedient bypass or is it serving as the passing siding more often? It just seems to me they send a lot of freight through the city instead of bypassing.

Well I finally got around to that side of town and of course, the trailer isn’t there anymore. There’s a different one (not RI); container on chassis. There’s also some kind of pipe coming out of the building into the trailer. Hopefully the Rock Island unit goes to get swapped somewhere and makes a ...
