Worcester? That's great to hear! That tells me that CSXT isn't planning on selling. We always figured that they would dump East Worcester & West Springfield asap. Most people expected CSXT to sell off anything & Everything east of the Hudson. Again, good luck. even if they wanted to, Worces...

Thank you! It’s not an auto facility. It’s the Worcester Intermodal ramp.

I’ve read that it takes a long time to make decent money as a pilot and quite a bit of a financial commitment as well because of paying for one’s flight lessons. I read that many pilots struggle with low wages at first. However once the position of captain or even co-pilot is obtained the pay become...

Well here’s an update to this thread I created back in October about my railroad job search and subsequent disappointment from not being hired. I was selected for another interview with CSX yesterday for the position of intermodal service employee at one of their terminals not far from me. I’m very ...

I’m assuming by engineering you’re referring to the track maintenance department? Wouldn’t that be kind of a lateral move or maybe worse? The reason being engineering department generally lays off during winter seasons. If you were to switch crafts from B&B to track maintenance you would be bott...

Alternate for Union Pacific

 by SlotCanyoneer ¦  Sat Jan 19, 2019 1:03 pm ¦  Forum: Employment ¦  Topic: Alternate for Union Pacific ¦  Replies: 0 ¦  Views: 3759

I received an email from Union Pacific stating that I have been selected as an alternate for a conductor position. I understood it to mean basically that if someone doesn’t pass drug test, background investigation, or washes out during training, etc I may be offered a job down the line. The funny th...

Why do many people refer to this as the Stony Brook “Branch” when it’s actually the Freight main line and not a “branch” at all? Always wondered that.

So you've been with the gov't for 11 years. Why in the hell would you want to hire on with CSX? I'm genuinely curious. I understand your questioning why. Especially with the recent changes in management and such. It wasn’t so much that I wanted to specifically work for CSX, however I live in New En...

I interviewed with Amtrak in October. Though I didn’t get the job and it wasn’t for a passenger engineer trainee. Here are some of the questions they asked based on what I can recall. 1) Name a time when there was a change in a policy at work and how you adapted to it. 2) Tell us about a challenge t...

I’ve worked outside. Did that for eight years delivering mail. I’ve operated and worked around heavy equipment. Never been away from home very long and never in the military though. I think the interview itself is where I have been failing. That’s the only thing I can think of. All my job interview...

Have you heard any new updates on this? Did they change your status to something other than "Do not rehire"? Were you in the union yet or still in a probation period? If you weren't in the union yet you may have no recourse. Your situation is really unfortunate. I really feel for you. I'm ...

You make a good point. I find these three people panel interviews a waste of time and resources. Especially for positions that are basically entry level like conductor, track laborer, coach cleaner, etc. In my opinion it should be a manager that is involved in the day to day operations on the ground...

I’ve been applying to every railroad around me, and some far away, for close to two years now. FINALLY got a nibble on one of my applications with CSX this past July. Got invited to an interview. Arrived on time and dressed neat. No three piece suit but a nice pair of slacks with dress shoes and a p...
