There's a bunch of them running on the MILW west line. Got a nice growl as they pull away.
I'm curious why they kept the 16-710 prime mover for B1-1B trucks and an HEP inverter. 4,400 HP seems like overkill.

I haven't seen an F40PH on the MILW west line in a while. It looks like mostly SD70MACHs, F59PH* and some MP36PHs. Now I am not trackside 24/7, but I live close enough to hear the trains and I haven't heard a run-8 645 either.
P42 174 leading 30(29) wearing new Phase VII.
That sounds better than batteries only. There was a story on the news about Tesla owners complaining that it is taking much longer to charge their batteries in the cold and they aren't holding the charge as long.
They look cool.....
These things are going to be obsolete before they get into revenue service.
I found this link. Hope its helpful.

This morning's LSL 49(27) had 3 V 1 sleepers. The first one in the New York section was painted in Phase III. I checked the window arrangement and it was a V1. It also looked to have the ridge down the center of the roof which the VIIs lack.
Nice videos. Thanks. I'm not a big fan of hooded units pulling passenger trains, but it sure seems to step out quite lively. In my opinion, the livery is a step in the right direction.
Yes sir, I agree. There's not even a bag to provide a little buffer space. I would put the bag up front with the NY section coaches, then the NY sleepers, then the diner. Stick the Boston sleeper next to that followed by the cafe and coaches. I'm sure they could figure out how to combine it with min...
This morning's LSL didn't have a sleeper on the head end Boston section. There were 2 VI and 1 VII sleepers on the NY section in back.
I see it often on the Elkhart virtual railfan camera and usually either the Boston or 2nd NY sleeper is a V II.
Well Mr. F-40, I like my privacy too. My last (not saying final, but I'm through going out of my way to ride, journey was #52(the day Kobe Bryant was killed) - and that was in a Bedroom. With the rates they charge nowadays - and apparently get, I'm not about to take many more rides (I assure you I ...
Other three words, no thank you.
I like my privacy and the Slumbercoaches were very popular. They had double rooms that could be used for double occupancy for those who don't mind.
I enjoy watching the Virtual Railfan webcam at Elkhart, Indiana. The Cap started running with Chargers a few weeks ago. First as trailing units then leading. It got to the point where there was a single Charger handling the train. Now is seems that the P42s are staging a comeback. This morning, 29(2...
