Well, its harder to know when trains pass thru West Boylston these days since they moved the new dragging equipment and hot-box detector from near Rt 140 xing (new mp 18.2, old 7.8) to near Burncoat st in Worcester. Maybe the DWSP wanted defective trains stopped before getting into the watershed area.

Around noon today stumbled upon a stationary 427 with last car just clear of the Shrewsbury St Xing and head 3 engines adjacent to the Seven Hills building on Rt 12. Thats about a mile and a half of train (and of course, blocking the Burncote St extansion).

For what its worth, from an online video and personal observation at Gardner yesterday, all those cars on yard 2 and 3 (and maybe 4) came up from Worcester on the P&W on Monday night.

Observed Nov 7, there is a new Hot Box Detector and Over Height Detector at X15.4 (200 yrds west of the old OHD at South Meadow Rd). Also, a new solar powered rail greaser a bit west of there at the woods crossing.

Nov1 0905 Sterling Junction - special gizmo, about 6 or so cars strung together with a crane running along the top. Traveling east, not working there. Also, last Saturday saw work (tie replacement and possibly more) being done at the south end of Harvard yard.

Interesting about Shay. That location used to be used for the east side of New Bond st on the Worcester line.

There was track work being done with track equipment (same equipment being used for the welded rail installation further south?) at the Deershorn Rd crossing Tuesday around noon.

As I drove past Gardner at 9am Monday, the P&W crew was getting permission, over the airwaves, to grab the cars on track 2.

Speaking of that 80lb rail, CSX derailed several full C&D debris cars last night about 1 mile north of Rt 62 in Berlin. Most of the train consisting of full C&D, empty center beam, covered hoppers and tanks are behind the derailment. Engines and good cars have been moved south out of the pic...

Full armada of equipment installing the new CWR southbound across Jones Rd in Berlin at noon. New CWR starts about 1/10th mile south of Rt 62 xing. Some of the old rail is only 80lbs!

I hope the reason we have not been getting our tri-weekley reports on Central MA B&M is that Jaymac is away on vacation and nothing worse. I miss seeing those.

Sunday saw the equipment parked on the line 1/2 mile north of Clinton center - so that is why you didn't see it on the Clinton siding. Probably so they could run around in Clinton when serving the south end of the line as you explained.

Has anyone noticed how they are running trains up to the trans load in Leominster (usually 3 or 4 trains a week) with all this track work going on?

Yesterday afternoon was busy for Clinton. On the Worcester main, track cars were returning from the east to park on the Clinton siding (where I also saw them on Monday). Then a parade of track cars came in from the south on the Agricultural branch, stopping on that siding, at least temporarily.
