Imagine thinking the state or the STB would willingly let active railroad track get torn up for a walking trail.
This sentiment is probably unpopular around here, but I'd rather an inactive rail line be used as a trail, then just languish waiting for service restoration that will probably never happen. I've seen far too much encroachment by abutters to like the idea of simply leaving tracks in place unused fo...
So fine I get the idea that the long distance container trains and the transloading, are good for business. The question is then, how do we save the locals and the brachlines? What do we do to prevent the old rusting away freight siding, from becoming as such? How do railroads save the individual f...
That's 18 miles out of a 189 mile highway. The statement might have meant the part between Manchester and Concord, but it didn't necessarily specify.
The B&M Northern does make sense to me. Wasn't it considered the shortest route, if also the most curvy through NH's western mountains?
To get on topic, I've been looking at more stuff about the Capitol Corridor, and I find it funny that there are many things that have said: "This will help take traffic off of highways, such as I-93..." Hahahahah, no. If the M&L couldn't take enough cars of I-93 to warrant it, how in t...
Not easy? I thought Pan Am was always willing to give up railroad lines!
To make sure, this still doesn't change the silly HSC plan, does it?
Are you sure there are 3? The only industries that I could find was the Quarry in Barre (And Maybe Swenson Granite, but their spur looks a little buried under weeds and dirt.)
I just recently found Golden Eagle's Facebook page. Browsed through the comments of their most recent post. Found this statement by them to be funny, considering all of your comments on page 103 of this. "We can be taken seriously and not ready to throw in any towels yet." Can be, but no o...
Huh. Thought it was.

Lord, it sounds pretty bad for them. Maybe we should start a Kickstarter campaign?
"NEGS, face it. You are screwed. Let us help you get a bit less un-screwed for about another 3 months.
Thanks for the info, but not exactly the answer I was looking for. When did they ship the steel beams (I'm guessing that's what those are) and is that something that they could potentially do again?
If they can't generate enough money for bills and such, I'm surprised they can have enough cash for Ballast north of Concord. Also, found this picture on their website. http://www.newenglandsouthernrailroad.com/images/pic9.gif I don't know how old that is, but who is that being offloaded for? (Or lo...
On a different note of freight service, does Bridgewater Power Co. seem like a potential customer, along with Person's concrete not far north of that? I always thought no, because they are so far from the NEGS facilities in Canterbury.
