Then explain why Amtrak reservations show all trains for next few days sold out? Possible conventions? Major game series? Remember, the Pennsylvanian sells out around the July 4th holiday weekend because of a convention that gathers 15,000+ people in one place. I won't be surprised if the Capitol L...

NJ Transit Arrow III broke a panograph and took down a caternary line. NEC trains were delayed heavily around NYC. MARC/SEPTA trains were fine.

Not unique to Siemens, or the rail industry. At least it’s just trains being cancelled. Try explaining to a sewer plant that they’re one pump/VFD/PLC card failure away from having to dump raw/partially treated sewage, and the DEP doesn’t care. And the replacement parts may be out three weeks, or th...

@STrRedWolf I'm a little confused, did you mean Track 2 is the only one in service? I'm not sure what they were numbered / named back when there were 4 tracks running through the station. Where's Track A? Is that the Northside Industrial Track that Norfolk Southern uses? The one behind the Track 2 ...

After learning about the track construction between Lancaster & Harrisburg from STRedWolf & Jeff Smith. I decided to take a trip to Lancaster on its "opening day" on April 8, 2024 to see it in action. Check out my YouTube video on it here -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE-yGlz...

Will Amtrak be able to use the existing pair of trainsets for the second trip or will they have to source a whole new set of Amfleets, including a 110mph-capable baggage car? I have heard anecdotal reports stating that many of Amtrak's high-speed baggage cars are either out of service pending repai...

There's been reports in local press that definitely ask for a second round trip that leaves Pittsburgh later in the day, but from what I saw... I think the expectation was more "I want to day-trip into Pittsburgh from Altoona" than just double capacity.... which to be honest, both are a go...

Sounds to me like Amtrak can't sufficiently argue their case with the documentation already provided. That's not reason to demand a private company violate its record retention policy, especially if the outcomes and data points are available in the documentation provided in discovery. At my company...

Amtrak filing to STB claiming UP is destroying needed dispatch decision data. The filing says that UP destroys its dispatch playbacks — videos providing information about dispatching decisions — after 99 hours, and that UP claims it is under no obligation to preserve those playbacks. Amtrak says th...

Crew opens lounge car for groups during eclipse trip (Trains Mag) In short, they opened all cars but the lounge on the way down, but saw some opportunity, got the lounge cleaned up, and had groups of two or more sit in the lounge to stay together. Good PR move! More than 430 passengers rode at leas...

A fellow enthusiast near me took the Capital Limited from DC to Sandusky to see the eclipse totality. Overnight, with a 4am arrival, so timed nicely. A return trip would of been past midnight, so checking with him.

I have a photo of NYP bound Empire Service train that had started west of Albany. Let's just say the vestibule was caked in snow... inside. On one hand, beautiful, on the other... a bit slippery. The Lake Shore limited on Viewliner equipment had that issue when I was on it last year. So this isn't ...

I would think NS would buy the line at the very least... but I see Amtrak buying and maintaining it.

Doomed? Casino.org There is an interesting tidbit at the end: So why would the LVCVA purchase an old transportation system that they knew was doomed? NBC News as well as other sources, report that the containers aboard the m/v Dali are now being transloaded to barges and returned to Port of Baltimore. Presumably they will be further loaded (by ILA members) aboard the CSX and NS "shuttles", as well as of course, highway vehicles, and mo...
