TOMC hasn't run on the Flushing Line for the last few opening days. 2024 will not be one of them.
The foamer fantasies on r/nycrail are out of control sometimes.
More than likely they will send the "Train of Many Colors" (TOMC) over to the Flushing as they have done in the past. HIghly doubtful given the state of the express service running on Flushing now - non-reporting trains on Flushing CBTC require a wide berth - and museum runs are not to im...

B if only because A and C are too close to Conrail.
I'd rather have something like this if we're gonna do a beat up heritage scheme.
Plan 5 is a foot or more of snow or blizzard conditions - but they've suspended outdoor service in particularly problematic areas (Sea Beach, Dyre, Rockaways) in less, especially after that train got stranded in the Rockaways in the 2010 blizzard.
Outdoor service suspensions happen with far less than 5 feet of snow.
Gangway cars made their debut on the 1118 168/EUC today.
For all I know, it's possible that No. 217 may be the one selected for the Penn Central wrap. My source? Someone commenting on my YouTube video. Nope, they are in fact metal.
It's possible to pull a brake cord violently enough to break the valve and make it impossible to reset. You have to exert a reasonable amount of downward force to pull it to begin with, but don't underestimate the strength of the crackheads and EDPs they got running around the system. Pulling the co...
It seems to me that if the protocols for dealing with a passenger pulling the emergency brake require crew to exit the train, there are worse problems with the NYMTA car designs than open gangways. If you know the problem is a pulled cord, then no, you don't need to do a full investigation. Full in...
I'll be honest, this seems like a pretty obvious issue. How was this not recognized as a problem earlier? Did we need someone to pull the emergency brakes on 5 cars and then cause an accident for people to think about it? People who actually operated the trains have been screaming that these trains...
