The AC6000CW fleet that was heavily rebuilt to cure their teething troubles, including installing new GEVO-16 engines to replace the original but unreliable 7HDL power plants, is now gone as well. All retired and sold to Progress Rail except for the three prototypes that got FDL's installed (making...

I've noticed that the station redevelopment plan for two of the Brunswick line stations had images which showed DMU, in MARC colors. I seem to recall that DMU/EMU were in long term plans, for increased service. Perhaps that's next phase of purchase, 10 years from now. Especially if the CSX lines ge...

And because of that, I wish MARC had ordered more Chargers than they did. I've noticed that the station redevelopment plan for two of the Brunswick line stations had images which showed DMU, in MARC colors. Any insight on the MARC tracker updates? I feel like every meltdown we get some promise that they're fixing it, but every next issue the tracker breaks at the drop of a hat. It's a wait-and-see on that one. I'm glad that ENSCO moved it to a server with more metrics, and found the actual problem! We...

I'm assuming the same reason that military grade hardware exists, COTS products can't take the wide range of environments.

The ATU released a video, showing all the deferred maintenance, and how unsafe components are.

But, no bus bridge, and not much notice. I've heard there has been a bunch of driver call outs, as they don't want to deal with people angry at them, for something that isn't their fault.

Does anyone know if the Operating System was upgraded?

"scratchy" Most of the NEC was 4 track, up to Landover. When they built some of the platforms in the 80s, they never expected that the 4 track capacity would be needed again, and thus, need to rip them out. I'm afraid you have it wrong. The Pennsylvania Railroad built the right of way betw...

The seats could be be better however I’ll take them over the horrid Cab signals/ACSES audible alarms. Part of the problem with things like these are the Unions put up no fight! Dont worry the new beepers are so quiet you cant even hear your overspeed penalty! And the ACS seat is comfortable, if you...

quote="scratchy" Remember, MARC service didn't exist yet on the Met, when it was built. The B&O, PC and Conrail were operating commuter trains on their respective lines before MARC was created. I use to hangout with a guy that worked for Washington Terminal that turned the seats in th...
