N scale A&A train set on auction

 by mkirsch ¦  Thu Jan 18, 2024 1:42 pm ¦  Forum: Arcade & Attica Railroad ¦  Topic: N scale A&A train set on auction ¦  Replies: 1 ¦  Views: 525

I know this place doesn't get much traffic anymore but I just came across an N scale A&A set consisting of #18, a few coaches, an open car, and a caboose.

I have nothing to do with this auction, just a casual observer:

After a bit of digging I came across an article from Trains magazine. It's an Alco RS3M, formerly WNY&P #406.

Funny, it's the locomotive WNY&P uses as the promotional photo for their "About Us" web page:

I was headed through Java Center toward Arcade this morning. There was a train parked next to Conroy's. Coming around the building I expected to see one or two of the GE switchers, but I was met with a shiny black end-cab switcher! Something "modern" by A&A standards. Thought they coul...

I go through the mill regularly and it's all covered hoppers and tank cars. Doubt if they are specific cars, just whatever car happens to get loaded with whatever commodity they need. I don't think you can go wrong in a modern interpretation just using generic cars from a lease pool. Though you will...

The only bad photographer is the one that doesn't take any pictures. Even so called "good" photographers will take hundreds if not thousands of shots to get one good one... Has something to do with monkeys and typerwiters and Shakespeare.

I know the double-track bridge across Keshequa Creek that you're talking about and this wasn't it. This was a few miles further down the line, one of those short 10' bridges that spans a small creek. It was the bridge at these coordinates: 42.691182, -77.810450 OBVIOUSLY, they wouldn't intentionally...

I took a run down I390 last Saturday to go to an auction, and at around milepost 37.8 or 38.7 on 390, I glanced over and saw that the rail bridge over a creek had been barricaded off from both sides with what appeared to be posts or ties driven into the ground, and orange snow fence. Looks to me lik...

The money was not a concern for me. I am one of the aforementioned "dumpers," just trying to get some unused gear into the hands of people that might use it and free up some shelf space in the basement. Is any other show run this way? You *HAVE* to be there for both days, right until the b...

RIT was my first, and will be my last, and only experience as a vendor at a train show. I did not know until after I paid my $50 for my one tiny table that I would be held hostage for the entire weekend. I respected their rules but their rules have lost them a potential repeat attendee. Smacks of a ...

Only if they're in violation of the environmental regulations, as Tonawanda allegedly was.

Maybe they aren't, and can shift operations there.

I was through there last weekend on my way to (and back from) Olean, and got to see even more on the way to the Strykersville fireman's picnic on Sunday. I'm impressed with the work, though tongue-in-cheek, I would only call those tracks "straight-ish." Vastly improved, and I'm sure some o...

Doesn't the namesake have to be dead in order for the bridge to be a "memorial?"

Any word on exactly what type of work will be performed? Obviously new ties, but will rails be replaced? Any grade work, such as along the swamp?

How is stating fact, "hatred?" The fact is they don't have the funding or manpower to maintain what they have. That's not a statement against them. That is a statement of fact. They are doing the best they can with what they have, but they don't have much to work with. Ignoring that fact d...

"LV" themed RR museum were the collection is small and manageable. And a location with actual LV heritage would be even better.
That's great, but does such a thing exist?
