I'm a new member. One of my interests is the New York, Westchester & Boston (NYW&B). I'm posting links to some NYW&B photos I took to draw the attention of others here who share an interest in the Westchester & Boston. I grew up in White Plains. I live in Ithaca nowadays. I wish I ha...
Thank you for the info! I did not know there is a CNY NRHS chapter. I think I will join!
Thank you! That was very informative. I just got a hold of the Streets of Syracuse book off eBay. Have yet to take a look, though.
What is IT 7?

The photo was taken March 18, 2014.
Are there any books about the story of OnTrack, or even better, a comprehensive historical overview of railroading in and around Syracuse?
You can always visit the "World's Smallest Railroad Diner" ten miles north of Ithaca on Route 89 in Trumansburg!

I think a Superliner could get into South Station? Anyway. Then I wondered if maybe they were going to be...
Ever since I moved to Ithaca ten years ago I've wanted to see maps, timetables, and photos of the Lackawanna's Ithaca switchback. I think I've only seen one photo, ever, and nothing else. The photo was just a chugging steam loco that frankly could've been anywhere. Anybody ever seen a collection of ...
All I can say is that The Atlantic Limited was one of the best train rides I've ever taken. And I only went from Montreal/Windsor as far as Brownville, IIRC.
Tomorrow I'm going to make my first attempt at photographing railroads around the Elmira-Waverly/Sayre-Binghamton area. Can anyone give me advice as to where I might find some activity? I would also like check out the CPRR. I'm gonna get an early start. I got all day.
Thank you,
David Sommer
Would make sense if CSX and NS deploy empty hoppers to ship snow down south like Conrail did during Blizzard of '77. Charlie Is there a way to get advance info of special snow clearing activities, so we can take photos? Yesterday I was trackside. The Maple Leaf to Toronto went by. Wonder if it made...
The super elevated track is what is left of the double track DL&W line, now NYS&W, that was two tracks from Syracuse through Jamesville. The bridge was the old entrance to Oakwood cemetery. The bridge is a steel bridge the stone arches are just a facade. Charles Thanks for the info, Charles!...
