Re: St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad (SLR/SLQ)

Ballast run ended up using the 3014 instead, due to mechanical issues with the 3035.

No 390s tonight.

Re: New Hampshire Central Railroad (NHCR) Discussion

7324 made a run down to Hazens this morning, swapping a new load of pellets for an empty.

One more run this fall, and that should be it for moves on the Groveton Branch this year.

Re: Vermont Rail System (VTR, GMRC, WACR, CLP, NYOG)

A truck from Burrell Roofing managed to hit the granite job just above downtown Barre. Both units (804 & 207) were disabled, although it appears 207 got the worst of it, suffering a ruptured fuel tank.

Re: Groveton rail service post-BM

Have spent a good part of the day researching this, but the only thing that makes sense to me was being able to keep a contiguous route for the Gilman mill, as I recall photos from a 1996ish charter trip with Amtrak equipment that refused to travel south of Northumberland due to poor track condition...

Re: Groveton rail service post-BM

There are photos online of GRS units in Woodsville in 1990/1, I believe it was right after that. The last freight load to Berlin was the winter of 1993, the 8/94 run was a passenger special. Last move from Woodsville to Littleton was 3/31/95, so they would have been running St J to Hazens to hit the...

Fritz, the unit was previously PC/CR/B&P 3100, the only other number it has worn.

Forgot about that, no 286k rating on the WACR over here, and certainly no six axle lashups.

394 had 54 cars entering VT.

Re: Twin State Railroad

Why would they be worried about competitive rates on traffic that amounts to a single car a month that would require at least three other carriers no matter which way it arrives? All of this sounds quite silly, to be honest.

Business hasn't grown, because there is none.

Re: Twin State Railroad

VRS already has a direct route to Portland via PAR. Why would they want a duplicate route that adds an extra carrier, on track that has been OOS for twenty years?

The trees in Concord village as of Sunday are thick enough to completely obscure the RoW west of the station.

Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

Yesterday was much like June, a mass pilgrimage of vehicles and bodies along 302. Couple that with heavy Labor Day Weekend traffic, and things certainly got crazy at times. A woman decided to park directly underneath the crossing cantilever next to the Bartlett Roundhouse and stand in the gauge in t...

Re: Twin State Railroad

How much traffic is NHCR generating right now? Business with Rymes is good on the Stratford end, don't have specific numbers. Noted that they're recieving some storage cars again as well. Whitefield end is just the hopper(s) of plastic pellets at this point, roughly a single car a month, give or ta...
