They could ship in or out if they want or need. Seems like they primarily ship out, but if the need arises for something, they can certainly have it shipped in.
Great shots of the F40s They look great in the SNC colors. Does the HEP work, or are they just being used for motive power? Anyone catch a video of them in action yet?
A friend of mine swung by North Creek on Friday on his way back from Lake George and got a pic of the two F40s. One was facing south inside the engine house, the other facing north on the lead to the house, getting paint and decals. So far they look good. Anybody know of any work that might be requi...
I haven't had much of a chance to explore the railroad, railfan or otherwise. Are the intermediate stations used much? The one time I did chase a train, a few years ago, I caught them going past the Corinth siding, then made a wrong turn, and missed most of the branch, but ended up catching them aga...
Just looked. The branch timetable does not indicate this train to be peak. However, it is printed in the next column after the peak trains, and is also highlighted in black. But instead of saying "Peak AM", it says "Note 3" in the masthead. If crew members are trying to charge th...
I'm glad NJT stood up against the media. The media has a responsibility to uncover unsafe conditions, and malpractices by employees, but it should not go stirring up the public just to get a story.
There is a huge, huge amount of difference between a commuter line that runs numerous trains each day for a large metropolitan area, and an excursion train running with old equipment just for pleasure rides. Unlike Amtrak or LIRR, no one is subsidizing their bills. That makes sense. But, my observa...
The "mechanical" problem may have been with their accountant's calculator. Are they doing poorly financially? I thought a lot of talk was that they were actually doing fairly well. It would be a shame if they go bust. A lot of improvements were made to the line, and it seems like a great ...
Like lvrr325 said, who knows what the schedules will look like next year. Both the SNCRR's and Amtrak's. For instance Vermont may get the urge to run a second Ethan Allen. ... be aware that the weekday schedules for Amtrak are much different than the weekend schedules. Thank you for the quick respo...
Engine 5019, it's probably been discussed. But, are there any plans to get it running again? On another note: I'm planning on taking a ski trip next year around this time. But, unless I'm looking in the wrong place, SNCRR's trains don't have any direct connections with Amtrak. Feb only, Amtrak is sc...
Newsday has a picture online of "Darth Vader" being shoved by NYAR geeps east of Ronkonkoma near Knickbocker Ave. I heard reports of it venturing out on the Main Line earlier this afternoon and that it set out going east along the Montauk Branch not long ago. Any pics or videos of this ra...
There certainly is a fascination with all things Alaska. Seems like there are tons of "reality documentaries" on various things in Alaska. I admit, Alaska is very intriguing to me. But, the only two Alaska related shows I watch are Railroad Alaska and Alaska State Troopers. Having 10 years...
I'm also curious as to how the railroad is staffed, specifically relating to train crew personnel. Are engineers and conductors on the same roster, and can an employee on this roster work as an engineer today, and conductor the next? How many are on the roster? Are there full time, part time, and vo...
I didn't see anyone start a 2015 thread yet, so I figured I would. Moderators, if you want to edit or move this to make an official header for the topic, by all means. I started this as I have a couple of questions. I saw towards the end of 2014, talks of revenue freight from the ore mines at the no...
