I commuted to North Jersey for over 20 of those years and almost never took Rte 9. We knew back in the 80s MOM was needed and even more now. But until there is more Trans-Huds...

You have to do a back up move to get from the LV to the Port Reading branch, unless they rearranged the tracks there somehow. When did they (Conrail I assume) build the connector so that an eastbound on the Port Reading branch could get directly on the ex-CNJ (Chemical Coast) headed towards E-port?...

That's what my receipts said when I purchased lumber there several times back in the 1980s.

It looked more to me like the engine exhaust shook the wire; I could not discern an actual hit, though others have said they could. Regardless, the lines need to be raised. That's on the utility that owns them, probably not Verizon. Actually probably is Verizon. The lowest lines on the pole are usu...

#1629993 by Kaback9 Mon Sep 25, 2023 3:44 pm Yes, up until the late eighties there were two huge sand mines near Lakehurst. One was South of the western circle about 2 miles West on rte 70 and had big siding. The other big one was West of rte 547 and had a spur from the Secondary to the mine.(remov...

Would that park be Winding River Park on Rt. 37 near the hospital? That's the park. Couldn't remember the name of it. On Rt 37 (not 73, my goof). The highway was under construction as was the park. It was a mess getting in there with a long load. No other rail cars were in the lumber yard, just the...

The confusion is the goverments fault in renaming 3 seperate facilties into 1, causing people to use one name for all three.
Being a US Navy vet, to me it will always be Lakehurst. Keep those Army and Air Force folks over in New Egypt please.

They are going to need to put a siding some where between Freehold and Lakewood. I personally think closer to Farmingdale would be more desirable than the Howell Road area.

Only person that could be is probably the one guy just outside Lakehurst or one of the asphalt plants further up. Perhaps planning to use the Navy's spur as a team track. I just don't see a reason to divert at Farmingdale from the Southern. Either Southbound or Northbound the route makes no sense to go toward Freehold with traffic for Lakewood or Red Bank.
