I'm not sure which forum this question belongs in but: Why are freight trains limited to 50mph? Most track in the US is Class 4, shouldn't it be good for speeds up to 60mph for freight? Or is it due to braking issues?
The maximum number of dual mode Chargers for the LIRR has now dropped from 65 to 60. This second option brings the total to 33. I haven't heard of any plans to double track from east of Locust Valley Oyster Bay. It would be a good idea though.
