No problem. If one has a past, the name of the game is to be as direct and honest with the questions asked. Never give negative info that is not being asked. This sort of makes you look a bit foolish. This takes a bit of understanding and knowledge on what exactly needs to be addressed and how to an...

What I know of this is that if you were NOT convicted you do not and should not list it. Also if I was dismissed and is not public, again do not list it. Guys get pulled out of service/fired for a background that was completed insufficiently and thus slipped through the cracks. This can happen a num...

Retirements and Hunter Harrison's objectives. Everyone says stay away, but I see a lot of oppotunity. I myself have a bachelor's in management and am working on my masters. I also have airframe and power plant ratings for aviation with management background in transportation. I say go to the intervi...

I'm not I'm this craft and I'm sure more qualified individuals will get back to you but why not go for it. I think, with your degrees and a positive work history you have a pretty good shot at it.

I know CP is hiring like mad right now.

The above is correct. All the RRs need guys in SD, ND, Montana, ect. However with the BN you will be in a closed district. Same with all of UP - all closed. Understand that hundred of people apply and pass the test. My advice, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Keep applying and maybe numerous R...

Depends on location like hell. But overall not bad on furloughs. But that can change on a drop of a dime for a new guy.

It's closed. Probably work your tail off. Very short on crews. Plan to stay as you not be in the system wide seniority roster.

Good replies here. I will give you a stat and that's the attrition rate for new transportation managers. Within the 1st 5 years is 70%. There are many factors to why this is but the job is going to be a challenge on many levels. I'm currently at UP. I have my bachelors in management and working on m...

I'm at UP now. I am partial to CN. The locations right for me as well. You can't go wrong with either. They are the 2 best class 1's to work for.

Alternate is not neutral it is good. I was an alternate for BNSF and got the call a few weeks ago however, I turned it down. I am also an alternate for the CN currently. I obviously wouldn't have turned down the offer from the BN if I didn't think an alternate is a hot ticket. Good luck and be patie...

Unless your really into maintenance I would try for train crew. Or go for both and see what happens.
Just bc you don't have welding is not going to be a deal breaker. If you have worked with pneumatics that's a big plus.
Good luck

You are pool or alternate. So they like you however there are not enough positions as there are qualified canidates. You may be called and you may not. My advice would be to keep applying.
