Quarry Trains from Glen Mills

Does AMTRAK still operate ballast trains out of the quarry at Glen Mills? A friend of mine asked recently. I've been meaning to ask lately, but it slipped my mind. I know this probably belongs under AMTRAK or some Class 1 RR group, but the West Chester Branch formerly existed under SEPTA most recent...

Yes, albeit not with 100% coverage of the line. To the best of my knowledge, the sole commercial video produced which included BSL underground cabride footage was shot during a BVTA-sponsored railfan charter trip operated in September 1991. The video included various segments of video shot out of t...

I witnessed some crews flagging their trains through with flashlights this past Friday. Strangely I saw the gates operate just as normal.

It would be cheaper to built an elevated extension of the M-F line to Roosevelt Blvd. than to tunnel from Broad Street. Tunneling has too many potential obstacles; countless underground utilities and three circles come to mind. Built it on the median with access from the side walks. Run it all the ...

That's very interesting, but my curiosity is geared towards the paneling and floor tiles in stations such as 15th-16th, 8th-Market, and other underground station - except Broadway.

Just as a memory refresher, was the ramp from the never-to-be Northeast Extension, along with the Olney ramp, built along with the rest of the line in 1928?

Renovation of underground PATCO stations

I know I posted this query before, but I don't think I worded it quite correctly: When did PATCO start going through and renovating their underground station platforms, between City Hill Camden and 15th-16th Locust? Surely some point in the mid-90s? I read here that in 1998, PATCO become the first A...

Hey everyone, I know there's more important matters going on out there, but I checked phillyhistory.org, and finally found photos of the end of the upper Erie trackage. If I'd only looked four years ago. Ah well.

A blueliner it was, indeed. Now it exists as a storage room for workers around Wayne Yard.

I meant the actual platform areas.

Does anybody know when the underground stations from Walter Rand TC to 16th-Locust were remodeled? They look pretty modern in my eyes. And photos are pretty scarce.

I have seen the ex-Pullman Comets hanging around at Overbrook yard west. What are they still doing around? If they're not on the overhaul list, I would think they'd be sent to the scrap heap by now.

As of the past two weeks, both 6374 an 6378 have been using Silverliner Vs. This probably has to do with the Rotem overhaul project, or possibly a dead engine or two.

For those interested, they installed a new end-of-track light at the end of the tunnel.
