Gray is officially off the docket and a new storage and ticketing facility for Portland is in the works, according to today’s Press Herald. The museum component will be at the WW&F in Alna. In my completely uneducated opinion, this makes a lot of sense. https://www.pressherald.com/2019/08/06/nar...

At the Brunswick interchange today, I noticed a CP boxcar. If that’s destined for the Rockland branch, it’s the first the branch has seen in some time. Any word on destination?

Caught a PanAm hirail truck on the line on Thursday at the River Road Topsham crossing. They had cut back some trees that had fallen on the ROW. I did not realize PanAm was still doing regular track patrol on the line, so it was cool to see.

fyi: 2001 and 2002 are at the Brunswick interchange and appear to be waiting for a PanAm pickup.

Dust off those resumes and sharpen those pencils, Maine Narrow Gauge is hiring a new executive director:

I've noticed some signs of travel on the branch lately - I thought it was just a high-rail but a friend said she saw a locomotive pass Wild Flowers bakery today. Any other confirmed sightings?

The state owns east of the River Road crossing. It's easy to tell - east of River Road is clear of weeds and debris, west is nearly impassable.

The crossing was removed today - the ground has been prepared for paving.

As a follow-up to my previous post about rail removal at River Road, I wonder if it's related at all to the proposed sale of this end of the line to Androscoggin Land Trust. Anybody have any insider info on that? Seems like a Pan-Am thing to strip out rails before a sale. http://www.ci.lewiston.me.u...

Today in Lisbon I saw a number of PanAm MOW trucks at the River Road crossing in Lisbon - River Road was closed. Probably the first time there's been a railroad related truck there for 25 years or more. I'm guessing they're removing the crossing at that location. As an fyi, I don't believe the Celot...

Recently, I noticed a bit of a kurfluffle (sp?) in Lisbon Falls. It appears that in the course of demolishing most of what remains of the Worumbo Mill, crews damaged the siding. I saw a state hi-rail and a small crew inspecting/attempting to repair the damage, but now, a few weeks later, I see it's ...

Beyond the posting of emergency contact signs at the crossings, I hadn't seen any sign of trains traversing the branch this spring/summer. The crossings remained full of winter silt. Today, however, I noticed fresh grooves - looks like something light weight like a hi-rail truck. Keep an eye out for...

Sorry gang, when I read the article, it was not behind a paywall (I found it through a Google image search). I don't want to infringe on the paper's copyright, so I can't repost - but it's worth a read if you can get to it.

Nice reporting on the part of the Village Soup papers about the state decision to change operators. Worth a read.

I'm sorry I never saw this first hand, however I'm wondering: obviously they use the Brunswick wye to turn the FL9, but do they back the entire train down the wye - or just the locomotive? I know it's a silly question, but for some unexplainable reason, knowing the answer is very important to me!

I'm confused as to how the state picks an operator BEFORE negotiating financial terms. Until I hear otherwise, the whole thing stinks.

I wonder about the future of the Rockland engine house.
