I have heard that the next section of the Concrete Casing will not actually extend all of the way to 12th Avenue because of a proposed interlocking chamber around 30th street and 12th Avenue.
Can anyone verify this?

15' - 6" center 14'- 3" as it curves to the wall then from there 13'-9" A multilevel has about a foot of clearance by the roof will fit Thanks! But, this means that NJ Transit's MLV's can not be used for future Metro North Service through the Park Avenue Tunnels. Thus, is it a strong...
There is now more political interest for a Secaucus Loop.

If Amtrak does not receive funding for the next section of the Concrete Casing (which they recently put in a request for), that is going to be very disappointing.
Thomas, the likelihood of gateway not being done is zero. It has been stated by amtrak that the salt water damage from sandy means eventually one of the tunnels or both will need to be shut down for extensive rehabilitation within 20 years. This was going to happen anyways when gateway became opera...
Have you contacted your Congresscritters nearly as much? Not yet. The middle of page 7 of this link has an update on the Concrete Casing. http://www.amtrak.com/ccurl/400/247/Amtrak-Ink-June-2014.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It appears that Amtrak's request for the ne...

Correct and correct... Are the engineering studies for the next section of the Concrete Casing going to include an interlocking chamber near 12th Avenue? Why do you care so much like you have a vested interest in this or something? Because my fear is that only the Portal Bridge Replacement and the ...

If Hudson Service were to go into Penn Station, would the Empire Line get electrified, or will only MN Dual-Mode Locomotives get used? Also, if New Haven Line Service ends up going into Penn Station, will this take away current service from Grand Central Service, or will additional Metro North New H...
Boardman is upping the FUD. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. I could not agree more! But, in the future, when Amtrak plans tunnel outages in the current North River Tunnels, will this be on a daily basis, or just weekends (like the current PATH Tunnels between NJ and Lower Manhattan)? Fr...
When Amtrak extends the Concrete Casing to the Penn Station Throat, will they have to dig up 10th Avenue in Manhattan, or can they just "underpin" 10th Avenue? It will be cut-and-cover, so there will be some disruption..... But, isn't the extension of the Concrete Casing underneath 10th A...
If Block 780 gets bought by Amtrak and they can build new tracks there, you will have an ADDITIONAL 7 stub end tracks. However, even these would have a tiny "yard" for swapping engines, cars, etc. In addition, some future plans indicate the desire to build a separate THRU station under Pe...
Oh -- I thought there wasn't going to be a connection from the new tunnels to anywhere except the Cavern. Lolz, no worries. I am certainly not working on the Gateway Project Engineering Team--but I WONDER if any engineers are going to attempt to reuse as much of the ARC Tunnel Alignment underneath ...
