All of that data and information is completely unsearchable. Good luck finding that paragraph someone wrote on the Erie Attica depot last summer. You could scroll hundreds if not thousands of times as FB loads another small group of posts as you scroll down. Burn through your lunch on your PC. Forg...

Mike Stellpflug did. I think lvrr325 is referring to the Peanut Line bridge abutments that are in the creek just above the falls in town. The LV never used that part of the Peanut Line as far as I know. There are no falls anywhere near where the LV crossed Honeoye Creek between Monroe Street and Si...

Crews told me they were not allowed on account of the tight curves at Rock Glen.

Here is a coal train at Gainesville in May 1980. There are about a dozen freight cars added to the head end, but it is essentially a coal train with 5 units. The rear end of this train, including the caboose, derailed coming down the hill at Silver Springs. https://www.flickr.com/photos/85501582@N03...

Here is a nice list of the RS3M conversions done by EL, PC, & CR.
The EL 1060 was rebuilt at Hornell from EL 1027 in April, 1975. Renumbered by CR to 9998.

1060 was rebuilt at Hornell. I know one of the shop guys who worked on it.
Generally assigned to Gang Mills after rebuilding.

The guys over on Facebook, where the photo is posted, now seem to conclude that it is on the Ithaca Secondary at Spencer, and that the bridge is Route 34.
Does that make any sense?

I started working at Gleasons in 1977. I've always worked in the proximity of the area where the tracks are located. They used to use a large tow motor for shuffling the coal cars until they converted to gas IIRC. There is not much track left, if any, as the latest parking lot expansion required the...

Reportedly the 205/206 are now Buffalo-Chicago trains.
That now makes only 8 scheduled trains on the Tier between Buffalo - Binghamton.

Between Buffalo and Mechanicville, 22K and 28N will supposedly handle the traffic that was on 206, and 23K and 287 will handle the 205 traffic.

Finally, I've been much happier with NS owning the Tier over the past 17 years than I was with Conrail's ownership. NS reduced the tax burden on NY RRs, with the cooperation of CSX. Conrail never accomplished that. CR owned the Letchworth bridge for 23 years and let it deteriorate. NS and the state...

Virginian is reportedly leading 36T on the Tier.
Was reported by Linden at 13:00.
