The $16 million is just one part of the Freezer project. There is some matching funds to be accessed plus outside financing. They just have to convince someone that the project is feasible and have them chip in a large portion of the financing. Good Luck.

The Maine Port Authority has announced that $16 Million is now available to build a new freezer operation at the Portland docks. Now all they have to do is find a partner to build and run the operation. Lets wait to see what happens next.

Article today in BDN about expanding the number of trips that will terminate in Brunswick. Upon completion of a new bypass near Cumberland, the Downeaster will have 5 trips a day to Brunswick. The bypass will allow better flow on the line per the article.

Driving up I95 on Friday, I noticed many new ties to the East toward the Keag and West when crossing over the right of way. Is this part of the grant money?

NS dumped numerous container cars on the ground on Sunday. Some of the cars fell down onto a station of the Port Authority light rail system missing some people waiting for the next light rail train. Came through Easton, Maine today on US1A. Two lines of tankers sitting at the Cavendish site. Don't know if they have anything to do with the potato planting going on. Did not have the opportunity to check the placards. Also, saw a line of tankers sitting between the McCain French Fry plant and Hube...

Similar products are produced at the LP plant in Houlton. There is some rail traffic on finished products only,but not sure how much. I think it depends on how long the product is. Only time will tell.

Local TV stations saying that the Lincoln Water District and PS have an agreement for the construction of a bottling facility with the water districts governance. Local WD rep said that this will make it possible for the WD to make upgrades to its infrastructure without raising rates to it's present...

Houlton Pioneer Times has an article about a collision last Wednesday night in Danforth between a freight train and a tractor-trailer hauling logs. Originally called in as a HazMat response, but was quickly changed to just a collision. The tractor struck the middle of the train and burst into flames...

Old 52 was busy on Saturday. She got tired and decided to take a rest for a while. Some people waiting in Unity had to get in their cars and drive to the fair while the troops worked to get 52 running again. 52 did come back to life later in the day.

The NIMBYs are already out screaming that the building will destroy the appearance of the waterfront. Have they taken a good look at where they are proposing the new building? It is the WATERFRONT not a park.
