Sandusky OH to Hackettstown NJ

I am trying to figure out a round trip on Amtrak and NJT from Sandusky OH to Hackettstown NJ. Getting from Sandusky to NYC is no problem but from NYC to Hackettstown is a problem. Trying to read a NJT timetable the only things I get from it is a headache and confused. I am thinking I will have to ch...

Lang Yard Toledo, OH

The past few times I have driven past the old DTSL Lang Yard it has looked like a storage and interchange yard. Power from western roads and regionals too. Has the yard been closed or downgraded to this point? Where is CN doing their interchange at?

Re: Via and Amtrak?

I would be willing to bet that the Via car tacked onto the rear of an Amtrak powered consist had an adapter. The only reason I know about this is I have a friend who placed his Amtrak approved PV on a VIA powered train a few years back and promptly did about $10,000 damage to the electrical system o...

Re: Via and Amtrak?

One of the biggest problems with mixing Amtrak and Via equipment is the differences in the HEP wiring. There is a phasing difference that if an Amtrak wired car is powered by a Via locomotive every motor, transformer, and other circuits will get burned out. There are adaptor connectors available in ...

1 or 2 trains a day on the old WLE, I don't think so. Sense the NS/Conrail connection in Oak Harbor went into service we are now talking multi trains hourly on average. General freight, stacks, TOFC and a WLE train both ways using its trackage rights to Toledo. Power is about anything you could drea...

I would recommend the location of the old NKP depot on north Buckeye St. All trains from south and west pass here plus W&LE trains. There is a pizza place across the street and a Subway about a block away.
