Re: CTDOT: Hartford Line

The track from just south of Oakwood to near Parkville would just need to be welded rail - not sure about signals. The plan to move 84 to the east makes no sense, It would require a tighter turn to the east than currently exists. I think they need to simply use the same ROW (the westbound lanes alre...

Change the law - either way - probably would not be done because the NY portion is changing to a rail trail and to add a third lane eastbount only on 84 would be the solution. I say electrify to run M7's through to Danbury which is a growing city.

That is not needed and would be costly - no room - the building and parking area are in the way. Three tracks is fine in that area - even with Amtrak trains and peak hour trains, I think it was discussed that Milford is not a bottleneck. The top priorities are, 1) Hartford (Springfield line) double ...

Commuter rail aside from the Springfield line (called Hartford) is very unlikely for a long time. They still need to rebuild I 84 which could mean a realignment of the rail line and the Hartford station. Also, Middletown to Hartford, which ended between 1930 and 1935, isn't coming back so soon. It m...

Re: New MNR/CTrail Schedule

Here is why Hudson line weekend service is reduced They did this last year for two weekends. Of course - they did it when I was going to a Yankee game. Weekday service on the Hudson Line will see only minor adjustments. Metro-North is replacing track switches near Morris Heights and Marble Hill, in ...

But at what cost. You can do anything if money is no question but money is not unlimited. What would the cost be to add rail to the bridge with a link to the Hudson line, and is it even possible with respect to land to have it ramp down. (on both sides of the bridge). And to run in the I 287 ROW, do...

Perhaps people don't realize two separate train lines run to NY from Rockland county already on existing infrastructure (passenger rail). People say connect to the Hudson line but as one can see, the express from Pearl River takes an hour and a one or two stop from Suffern takes an hour or perhaps j...

The cost of rail would be above and beyond realistic. Run a bus along the route - perhaps an upgraded I Bus that runs Stamford to Rockland County. If any capital improvement is needed, build ramps and bus stations along I 287/I 87. Perhaps a regular route and another route that operates to Westchest...

Would it make sense to have rail service from Berlin and south to New Haven with connecting busses to the north. Also, no mention of adding a second track in Enfield-Windsor Locks or upgrading the second track between Oakwood Ave and Parkville. It would seem that if they need to close the line, do e...

Is it possible to have a center platform for when the second track is added? (similar to the Harlem line)?
Not sure how much room exists.
Would they have elevators and stairs like the three southern stations or would it be more like Windsor?

Two months ago I saw rail car with rails parked near Flatbush Ave. My thought was they were going to install Welded rail between Oakwood and Parkville and extend the area of double track for passenger trains. Is that going to happen?

They already did a study. No need to waste money again. They added a passing siding (or two, not sure) and found electrification cost too much with minimal time savings. What they could do is negotiate with the freight operator and upgrade the two tracks to a proposed Danbury North station near I 84...

I think Amtrak has been accepting multi ride SLE tickets for certain trains for a long time. This is nothing new.
