What you saw was an equipment move. Coming or going to the MMC for maintenance.

That is a hand throw switch, not a remote switch.
It's still there to provide a place to clear up track maintenance equipment if needed.

Yes, everyone is working under long expired contracts not without contracts.
I didn't say a strike is a good thing or that I wanted one.

Just so you all know, it's not just the engineers. The whole railroad is working without contracts right now. If NJT still refuses to settle contracts after the PEB makes their recommendations most of the railroad is going to be ready to strike.

That crossing has no effect on what signal is displayed at CP East Gladstone. Like was already said it has to do with the position of the hand throw switch west of the signal.

I happened to ride past the power plant at the end of the old main line yesterday. NS was working on tie replacement.

Nope. They left it alone and built the new bridge around it, actually over it.
