They are commonly used for food, but really anything that would be damaged by the elements in a normal boxcar. A week, maybe more? There is no way the RR could be competitive, its only a 5-6 hour drive.

They are actually called boutet trucks on the rr, named for a type of thermite welding, in order to differentiate them from a regular welding truck.
