There is nothing weird about them, they are just insulated boxcars. They are commonly used for food, but really anything that would be damaged by the elements in a normal boxcar. I dunno what fantasy land this happened in, but there is no way in hell that myself or any of the other railroaders I work with are asking railfans how to do our jobs.

How long would it even take a reefer of cranberries to get to Massachusets? A week, maybe more? There is no way the RR could be competitive, its only a 5-6 hour drive.

The surving station in Piermont is actually on the Northern Branch, not the Piermont.

Yep, that's one of the newer trucks. They are actually called boutet trucks on the rr, named for a type of thermite welding, in order to differentiate them from a regular welding truck.

225T is a thermite welding truck. That is one of the older trucks, there are 4 new Freightliner versions on the property. 270T is a boom truck.
