From what I heard, the station is under the parking lot and was partially under the parking deck off the garage. My friend who works for public service of Philadelphia showed me in person where he think part of the station still exist as steam pipe room for the shopping center above. He believes dur...
The only real station I can see closing is Angora and Eddington. You can count with your fingers how many people come on. Even train scheduled to stop at Eddington slowly creep by when no one is on the platform and continue on it's way. Angora is too close to a very active trolley line and it's also...
How did trains get from 30th lower (PRR side) to Landsdale/West Trenton (Reading Side)? They didn't. Passengers had to change at 30th Street to get to Center City and Reading-side points. That's why you don't want to run to the lower level unless you need to. I think he ment Railwork Trains... Well...
I rode the LAST Comet I run before they went missing over the summer and well we had some problems before they were yanked. There was a EBA near Trevose, and after that we had some BAD flatspots. I remember when we got Woodbourne the smell of burnt brakes and loud click-clacking coming from the truc...
You guys forgot one thing, how LATE they were delivered. The PSIC ordered them in 1965 and because of the PC merger and as Jersey Mike said the PSIC gave way to SEPTA in 1966. Because Pennsylvania was so bankrupt, they couldn't pay for the Silverliner IIIs in full. I think they reduced the order of ...
Last visit to Cynwyd (last Thursday) a crew with yellow hardhats and orange vests were down there raking the ballast while two were on a old catenary pole scrapping rust off, I think the NS matter is done. I also think that was a NS crew down there.
There was some inside talk about a possible Silverliner IV retrofit to make them run in service mixed with Vs until the Silverliner IVs go for their overhaul. Because of the difference in trainlining SEPTA is growing weary of not being able to link the IVs and Vs together thus alot of trains lately ...
I hope Walthers fixes that Arrow III style pantograph a bit and sell them seperate. I think everyone who modeling an Arrow III (me included), would have so much more of an easier time.
GEC, I'm really liking how your catenary is coming out. Can't wait to see those Arrows underwire.
I know SEPTA was planing on giving the IVs a real overhaul soon and were planing on retrofitting LED signs on them. So never say never.
Dear lord! I totally forgot this tread existed, okay, long story short, I have 4 4X8 set up in a circle and I made simplified plan. GEC, yes you were right. I cut the Fox Chase, Bustleton, and few other out the plan. But the plans still include both Chestnut Hills. (the CHW is only N. Philly and cur...
I just hope they will have the trains for the trip. I believe the count of IIs and IIIs is at 27 (as of March 30th). 23 cars, actually. 20 Budds and 3 Louies as of the close of service April 13th. Two more Louies and a Budd were retired tonight. That means I caught 1/3 of the remining louies yester...
Yesterday, all Budd sets I saw were grouped in threes. (including one set I saw with two Budds and 230 at the end). Pretty morbit considering that's how their dying. All in groups of 3. Also I caught a Glenside-bound Silverliner V married pair roaming around (815-816) the reading side by North Broad...

Connex was almost chased out Melbourne, Australia because of how bad the service was.
