That's true. 1557, 1559, and 1560 never did have the train lighting electrical cabinet.
However, all the GP7s did have steam generators for passenger service.

the problem with a wheel out of balance is that the force pressing the wheel to the rail is not constant, but varies as a sine wave. As the heavy part of the wheel rises up the back side and over the top, centrifugal force will tend to lift the wheel off the rail; then as the heavy part heads down t...

Wholesale electricity is much cheaper by the btu than diesel fuel. Natural gas is too. Electric trains are common around the world, so the comparative costs must be at least somewhat similar. electric trains have no diesel engines to maintain and no fuel storage and handling facilities so there are ...

Nice pics, thanks for posting. Looks like most railroads in Viet Nam are metre gauge.

French influence indeed, Google cite, a numerous class designed and built by SACM in France, but this example is reputedly a Chinese built copy. There were also reportedly Vietnamese built copies.

Why not? because. For 100 years or more one has had to take one's life in one's hands to cross Causeway street to get on the el/T/subway. Then too, remember through the entire Fleet center era of the prior decade, the commuter waiting area of North station was a truely aweful low ceiling-ed narrow n...
