Re: Who dispatches MBTA trains out of South Station?

Whoever it is did a masterful job yesterday with the train I was riding to Needham. It went through the West Roxbury passing siding perfectly timed with an inbound train, such that neither had to stop; they just glided by each other. Somewhere in the Commuter Rail Timetable for the train you were o...

West of the active Propane dealer in Terryville, CT: Peter Paul chocolate plant in Naugatuck, CT closed in 2007. Waterbury-Republican Newspaper stopped printing at Waterbury in 2010. All that is left is Albert Bross' Scrap Metals and Frost-Bridge Recycling up in Watertown. Waterbury was once the Bra...

Hoosac Tunnel still can't accommodate 2 double stacked, 53" hi-cube containers. It right now can only handle Double stacked 40' ocean boxes. NS had known this since the 2009 creation of Pan Am Southern. Whether NS pays haulage fees to CSX to run Voorheesville to Worcester up to Ayer, or invests...

Could ND run a pulp shuttle from Rumford or do they already have excess paper capacity there? For a while in 2020 RUPO was running with a head end block of pulp to be set off at the Pixelle mill in Jay. But then Pixelle started buying pulp from Saint John and also shipping from other sources. They ...

So Mr. Newpy, these warehouses being bult along the former Pan Am and apparently without rail access will add nothing to Chessie's Fancy Feast bowl. It appears she already has from Jeff what she is going to get with or without Pan Am. I know "it's only been a month"; and I assume Chessie ...

Patriot Beverage is and will stay as a Pan Am Southern customer. Generally switched by FI-1 or FI-2 since it's easier to serve the mainline customers via Fitchburg Yard rather than waiting to come out of the congested Hill Yard.

NS sat on their hands for 10+ years. Now CSX owns the high revenue generating part of Pan Am. The West End is mostly inbound business. Scrap Metal, Construction Debris and Limestone are not high revenue cargo outbound. There is also a 4.75 mile tunnel that scares Atlanta and is a high risk. Why buy ...

If NS does acquire CSX portion of PAS, would G&W B&E still be the PAS operator? Also I’m guessing if NS comes to own 100% of the PAS property, NS IM trackage rights trains over CSX B&A wouldn’t happen. NS has ZERO interest in absorbing Pan Am Southern into the NS system and they can't b...

It sounds like when the new ownership took over they were heavily financed by loans or other credit in order to complete the sale. The recent purchases of MoW Equipment and another dome with other assets backed as collateral tells me that they are heavily leveraged. It won't take much to stretch the...

Even though it's not "official" until June 1st, I wonder if CSX starts pricing the ST route more favorably than CP or CN on Maritimes and Northern Maine traffic? There's probably quite a bit of business they could flip immediately. Won't happen overnight, but a day of reckoning is coming ...

As for Erving Paper in Erving....

Them not using rail service has more to do with their financial problems than the railroad servicing them.
Scrap Paper inbound is low value and easy to truck, provided they pay you for the freight.

Anybody have the story on what happened to NECR #3850??
Looks like it was involved in a fire or vandalism of some kind.
Seen at Palmer today (9/8/2021) looking cripsy.
