If this, for a fact, was a one man crew. Shame on MMA for this. Why is that? The size of the crew did not cause this incident. If the cause comes down to handbrakes, (which we don't know yet) then the issue is whether they were applied. There have been countless wrecks over the years with crews of ...

I haven't posted here in a while, and this derailment has sparked a lot of questions in my mind. First off, there are a lot of people that don't know how train brakes work. The normal air pressure for a freight train is 90psi, fully charged. Reducing that pressure applies the brakes in a 2.5:1 ratio...

Any job out of Middleboro is nocturnal now. Before the Middleboro CR line rebuild B729 had a midmorning start to Braintree, however is now called after the last MBCR train around 11 PM. You may catch B727, the local to Attleboro, switching and building their train on Alden siding late in the aftern...

Usually later in the evening now or early in the morning. Depending on what other work we have. And usually once every week to 3 or 4 weeks. They have been real slow.

The reason the cars haven't moved is because Bird's production has been on a layoff the last several weeks. They don't use material when they aren't making shingles. Ok thanks that might also explain the lack of 18 wheelers going past my house the last couple of weeks. In the past few weeks, I have...

It's rule 46 speed. It does not require looking out for broken rail, so the crew did not break any rules. "Trains must be able to stop, within one half the range of vision". forget all the rest, this is very clear. if you cant see the rails through the weeds, you need to slow down. never ...

industrial track? i imagine this would be restricted speed. had their been a banner instead of a missing set of rails, this would have been considered a failure to stop. technically, it's still a failure to stop though...... If it's bad track with grass growing around it I don't think they can be f...

By the looks of things on Google Earth, if I'm looking at the right spot, where they did it was a main at one point. Yes, it use to be a main that ran north to the NEC in Mansfield, then crossed over and continued up the now Framingham Secondary. If you cut out a piece of rail on a signaled main li...

Just imagine if it was the main they did that to instead of the industrial track. Chlorine bombs going off the track at 30mph would not be a good thing.
