RMDI still exists of sorts, just not in Coxton/Pittston.

They now operate the ex NYS&W Utica shops as Susquehanna Locomotive & Railcar Repair Services Inc.

A drone railfan has managed to locate CSX 8595 SD50. This is the unit that is the last B&O locomotive made . CSX however forgot and sold it before it could be donated to the B&O museum as promised.

Let me rephrase. How much faster or slower, more or less mileage would your routing be versus the rebuilt Cutoff be? Would it be viable for commuting to Scranton and the Poconos? Would it it work for people going to the ski resorts? People commuting to Western New Jersey? Well here is the great par...

Like I said, you all seem to have forgotten that the DL&W main in PA never got removed, doesn't need restoration like the NJ portion. It needs a few upgrades, but nothing to the tune of the NJ portion, as it hosts daily trains. And has an eastern connection. back way onto the DL&W.jpg Lo...

It's actually an all PRR route to WB. But I don't think PRR ran passenger service that way after 1940, and when they did they did via a now defunct route. It's 3hrs 30mins using an Electric with a 15 min stop in Phila to Harrisburg. Add on at least 3 to.. get to WB... and well too long. I agree that...

Honestly. I think the quickest way is the one no one considered, and I only stumbled upon eliminating all the possibilities. That would be using the NEC from NYP to Phila. Changing to diesel here and running to Harrisburg on the Keystone. Then you run on the NS route to Scranton from there. This of ...

Old thread... but it sure needs a reality check. First off.. you all know that the Pennsylvania portion of the D&LW is intact and has a live connection on the east end right? Without needing to restore the NJT portion of the Cut-off? Yep, you can roll a train out of Hoboken or Penn and get to Sc...

Someone isn't thinking here.

Sounds like a good opportunity to try running the CPR route to Lucien-L'Allier

The railroad also doesn't need Jim Thorpe now, Andy knows that the new bridge is going in that allows direct access to the Lehigh Division from the Reading Division without a run around move. The railroad doesn't need Jim Thorpe as a passenger end point anymore. You could run gorge trips from Tamaqu...

Generally the computer selects a pre-programed order. of which ones to Idle first. The locomotive might change this depending if inverters fault out. But heck, an SD70MAC with four traction motors would still probably out pull the rest of the fleet. I am looking at what EMD (PRLX/EMDX) has "sit...

Well I listened to the guy speak. From the way he talked. These will essentially be new Tier 3 SD70MAC Inverter HEP. Now from the way he talked, these will be Six inverter locomotive. Under HEP five axles powered, one idle. These might not even be from current SD70MACs. Progress/EMD holds title to a...

How they are going to add the HEP will be curious. It is important to note that the Alaska RR SD70MAC with HEP disconnect one of the two trucks in HEP mode. And SD70MAC has two inverters. One for each truck. The EMD solution was to divert one of the two traction inverters to the HEP. So in HEP mode ...

You know, there is another prototype viewliner sitting doing nothing that would make one kicking lounge car. Someone needs to get 2300 drug out of bear and rebuilt as a lounge. Sad to say that the Grove is a double edge sword. They have the ability to keep these cars going, but there is an extreme a...

PWRR and NECR already operate on the NEC, why not a third? Little bit different circumstances with the ex New Haven lines as to ownership. Much of the ex New Haven NEC isn't actually owned by Amtrak. Unlike the ex PRR part where Amtrak owns it lock stock and barrel. That and all that was done befor...
