Trust me when I tell you that I feel all of your frustrations. But this has been the known reality for many years... Just look at what the GRS did to the D&H... With NS finally coming in to save the day on the D&H Southend, things are going to start changing in the NEUS rail scene. There was...

I must say, one thing I am very curious to see play out is the CSXT vs. NS freight contracts/routings to and from New England moving forward. Although I know quite a bit of tonnage running on the respective routings (Q426/427) and the MOED/EDMO originate and terminate on the interchanging railroads,...

There is no doubt NS is/has been experiencing some "issues", but nothing out of the ordinary for all North American Railroads at this point. MAJOR congestion, particular in Freight classification yards has been the norm as of late, as has motive power and crew shortages. With the decline i...

Thank you for posting the link! You beat me to it! Will be interesting to see how this all shakes down. Besides being an inland port type of operation with traffic out of PANYNJ, it could also be utilized for block swapping purposes as well for Intermodals Moving East/West and North/South. I think i...

This has absolutely nothing to do with April Fool's Day. I don't take part in that mess... This information is right from NYS DOT and the funding is already budgeted and secured for various Intermodal projects all over the state, including a new terminal that is planned in Binghamton, NY. Hi Everyone, New York States most recent transportation funding Bill includes 40 million of funding to expand the Syracuse Intermodal Terminal, expand the Port of Albany container operations and to Construct a NEW intermodal terminal in Binghamton, NY. My assumption is this is likely efforts that de...

The DL/NS interchange has not been moved as of yet and likely won't be until at least the middle of this year at the very earliest (if at all). Nobody really knows how the NS takeover of the D&H is going to effect operations, but we do know NS plans to utilize Taylor Yard near Scranton much more...

Just as oibu stated, CSXT holds somewhat of an advantage East/West as opposed to NS but that also doesn't mean that NS can't price themselves in and improve times East/West to compete either. They have already had success on the order of two 8000 + foot pairs of trains per day on the East/West marke...

Hello, NS I believe has hired a total of 16 Conductor Trainee's thus far in Binghamton Terminal. 8 or 10 are already on the road qualifying North and South of Binghamton on the D&H and the remaining 6-8 are either in Georgia getting their book training or scheduled to go shortly for book trainin...

Hi All, I have no doubt the current CP 252/253 will be at the very least cut back to Mohawk Yard (to handle the PAS interchange) or even more likely Saratoga (where PAS maybe forced to interchange with CP there). As for NS, the likely predecessor to the 252/253 would be an extension of NS train 11/1...

To me it just looks like they unloaded the surfacing equipment. Tampers, Regulators, Evaluation machines, etc. Most of the equipment still on the train (as seen in the photo) appears to be tie replacement related equipment, tie pullers, claw machines, spikers, etc. If they aren't doing tie work (whi...

Hi Everyone, Contrary to preliminary reports of just 7 miles of CWR this year on PAS, it looks like NS has sent yet another fully loaded CWR train (another 7 miles of rail) North to PAS today on the D&H. Should have a pair of NS GE's for power with a 9000 series leading the way. Earlier this wee...

The Welded Rail Train destined for the PAS made its way North through my neck of the woods on the CP Sunbury Sub yesterday evening. As of the early A.M. hours this morning it was sitting in NS's Binghamton Yard waiting for a recrew to take it North to Mechanicville, NY. Train consist is as follows: ...

The Montreal to Philadelphia Hapaq Lloyd and Hamburg Sud Container business that used to run on a CP/D&H routing, fell into CSX's hands by default. CP's new CEO (E. Hunter Harrison) deemed the Philadelphia operations not profitable enough for CP and they have pulled out of South Philadelphia. CP...

K4, I believe this was CP who got the contract for the new refinery transload in Philadelphia. The rail transload is supposed to open anytime by the beginning of Summer this year. The plan is to run the traffic via Buffalo/Binghamton/Harrisburg and Philadelphia just like the CP 614/615's for Westvil...
