Lots of abandoned stations in Queens. Considering the usage of train today, train stations seem to be making a comeback at least by the replacement Elmhurst station for instance. Queens has way too much mass transit overall. It should focus on rail and subway improvements and eliminating redundant ...

Was anything, particularly the curved wood supports, saved prior to , or after demolition? What was the interior like? Anything salvaged as history? My understanding is that the East Williston library has some of them, but I cannot remember for the life of me where I heard that, so I may be wrong. ...

Interesting. So the brown M used to take the Montague Street Tunnel before 2010 and follow the same route as the D train after that? (If I read the descriptions and schematic maps on Wikipedia right.) Regarding the transfer from the M to the G at Broadway, in terms of in-system walks, the distance b...

You're right that there is a transfer between the L and G trains. And now I know that the Weekender app doesn't list in-system, between-station transfers when you tap on a station! Thanks for the answer and also for the bit of history, there.

Transfers to G train in Williamsburg?

Is there a reason why there aren't subway-to-subway transfers between the J/M/Z or the L and the G in Williamsburg? I'm think specifically of Lorimer Street or Hewes Street stops on the Jamaica Line or the Lorimer Street stop on the L. I occasionally go between Middle Village and Park Slope, and it ...

If the content is too complex to eloquently condense information into 140 characters or fewer, the best thing to do is tweet out only the most relevant information with a link that includes all the details. "11:33PM train from Huntington to Penn Station will arrive 14 minutes late at 12:54AM. D...

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Do you know how location is determined when trains are underground? The brochure says the monitor uses GPS for location. Also, do you know if there are truck defects that could be detected by comparing data from different cars for the same section of track? I have ...

Those were my two guesses, Joe and Cat. I'd imagine for the cost of these cars, they could afford tarps to protect them from scratches in shipping. Are the system clearances well-understood enough that the clearance tests are basically "sanity" checks, or have rolling stock had clearance i...

160 and 171 were heading east on the southmost track past Jamaica just before 9:10 tonight.

Unrelated to that, a few months ago, I saw an MP-15AC pulling some M-3s (I think) into Hillside Facility, but I totally forgot to report it here at the time. Better late than never?

One of the cars on a train going to Port Jeff last night looked like it had a luggage storage rack instead of seats in the middle on the lower level. I noticed it from outside the train and didn't get the car number or a photograph. Did I imagine that, or did they put that in? The others didn't have...
