Planning to wire it?? Never heard that!!!
It's simple. No wire, no chance.
EDT stood for End DoubleTrack. I'd assume the W stood for "westward", which was the TT direction, even though it was going east.
Just a note on the FA's. They were nice up until about late 58. The black wore off and exposed the white underneath like a cancer, dreadful is right, especially if you saw them when they looked so nice. As far as I know only the 706 and 709 got repaints. The RS2 paint held up until the end, wonderin...
Really liked the first volume and just ordered the 2nd. This is must have material for anthracite RR fans.
To be clear the only real-time Amtrak CETC territory shared with the Railroad Control Center is is the NY Division East of Holmesburg. That display was provided for the information specialist to make accurate announcements in reference to trains leaving Trenton for Philadelphia. No other real-time C...
Walter I grew up in Tamaqua and lived close to the LNE. There really was no double track per se, but the appearance of it through the eastern section of town towards Arlington. The track from Pen Argyl turned east from following Rt 309 and was joined by the track that was used for Reading RR interch...

Actually they did overnight a few times in Doylestown. D Woodland has a picture of one on the early morning train 6511, page 79 of &quo...
I highly recommend these "Railfaning with the Bednars" videos to all readers of this forum. They are each about an hour [+/-] long and John has done an excellent job with the 8mm transfers that include music, sound syncing and narration [by Bednar himself in the volume 3]. Absolutely a mus...
It is strongly recommended that customers heading toward Center City from outlying areas use the terminus stations of the Broad Street Subway and Market Frankford Elevated. On the Broad Street line, the stations are Fern Rock to the north and Pattison Avenue to the south. For the Market Frankford E...
Between the connection to the old LNE Greenwood Branch and the Reading RR tracks on Spruce Street when looking towards Broad St there was a public track with a concrete base that elevated up to the height of a box car door and had a wooden canopy structure built over it. In the mid fifties I saw car...
