Spending the weekend in La Tuque. Last night, I decided to go to a nice spot between the La Tuque station and Fitzpatrick stop. The train was ludicrously late (11 hours) but I still went there at midnight to catch it. I was in for a nice surprise, as while waiting for the Via 603, I ended up seeing ...

I was very fortunate in high school to get distracted almost daily by the Housatonic Railroad, the tracks were maybe a hundred feet from the school. When I was there they still had their GP9's and the RS3 still ran when not being used at the Berkshire Scenic. I was lucky to have several teachers un...

Saw that a couple weeks ago (For some strange reasons, I like to look up train station on Goole Maps, wether or not they are Via Rail) Given that it's a 2-3 times/Week train (on each directions), passing through such a beauty is an increadibly nice coincidence. Also, juding by the photos... I guess ...

I just rediscovered my OG trainspotting spot.

Back in 2000-2001, my father we living literally 1 minute away by foot. I would go outside and watch (mostly CN) trains all the time. This spot is on the Montreal-Senneterre/Nonquiere line, between the Grand-Mère and Garneau stops (Very close to the Garneau stop in fact, IIRC, if you walk alongside ...

1: Which VIA Train, among those you took, offer the nicest views? Having only taken 3 non-corridor trains in my life, my answer is easy: The Montreal/Senneterre train. I love the Ocean, but most of the would-be impressive view (St-Lawrence rivers and mountains) are passed trhough the night, no matt...

I'm not even sure it would be physically possible to begin with. At least not without some massive infrastructure update. The tracks beyond the Windsor station are borderline abbandonned, and from there, I don't even think they can go to the the US side. The station is right outside of downtown. If ...

Had to change some seats at the Quebec Train Station, so I filmed a leaving train for the first time in a fairly long time.

This time it was the 35 on december 26th. Train left on time.

Yeah, I asked to change some seats before I got in the #35 this morning, it's leaving as I type this)

I asked the lady and she said they started to assing seats somewhere in fall of this year.

There is other coverage, such as CTV news and the Winnipeg Free Press. This is from the CBC: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/churchill-passenger-train-1.4932087" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; VIA has announced that service to Churchill will resume on Sunday Decembe...

Assigned seats for the Ocean?

Just book my trip for my vacations (7th trip to halifax, lol) and I noticed that this time, I actually got a assigned seats, usually, even when I hit ''window'' as prefered seat, I don't get a seat (so I basicallt get to choose my own seat). Since when did you get assigned seats for the Ocean? I too...

I don't know about the political pressure - Bombardier hasn't been chosen in Quebec for the last 2 projects and I suspect that the Bombardier name (at least in rail) has such a bad reputation with the general public that it would be a brave politician that forced a Bombardier choice. It's also wort...

Mark: Total agreement there...Secure the bridge better if possible along with trespass enforcement... Does anyone have further photos - especially of or by the walkways of the Wemotaci truss bridge? MACTRAXX The only photo I have is a photo of my brother standing on the bridge. So it would likely b...

The Seattle-Vancouver equipment is Amtrak's, is it not? Pretty sure VIA has nothing to do with that service. Correct, unlike the Toronto-New York train where VIA takes care of the Canada part (Until Niagara Falls ON) and Amtrak takes care of the US part (From Niagara Falls NY to New York City), I'm...

I was in Windsor for the last few days (left this morning on the 70, currently on the 40 toward Ottawa thenI'll take the 28 back home to Quebec City) Yesterday was WAY too hot to walk around the city, and even the evening was barely... bearable? So I decided to film both the 75 and 79. I unfortunate...
