The plan to purchase dual mode engines will save time as well.
Wish this group had like buttons. So many remarks that are dead-on.
I made this assertion on another website and caught hell. They said it wouldn't fit at Forest . I think the opposition was linked to the fear the only way it could be done was to eliminate the Needham Branch and convert it to Rapid Transit. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Third track fr...
I don't know what kind of compromise in acceleration having to lug the idled diesel might be but the extra tractive effort of the two powered trucks will make up for some of that "dead"weight. The prospect of being able to quickly change to diesel power in the event of electric power going...
At least they didn't mention anything about wheel interface or wheel and rail profiles!

Has Amtrak come out with actual speed limits for the Acela 2 on the Corridor? Will some sections in MA and RI be upgraded to 160 MPH because the train will have higher speeds through curves? Im thinking between Mansfield and Hyde Park.
Don't much care how it looks. How does it run? does it accelerate faster than A 1? Have the speeds (especially on curves) been formalized? And have they published running times yet? TY . P.S. Retired from Zone 1.
