A little late, but I recently came across Mr. Spranger's Obituary. Yes, Port to Binghamton is signaled.
And contrary to what some of people believe, the trackage is in decent shape, and only getting better.

Not sure if this has already been settled or not, but Atlas did get the black walkways correct on the L&HR C-420s. A number of nice color slides on ebay over the past few years has confirmed this. Joe,
They are the dirty dirt cars for contaminated soil loading in NJ; they previously used tarps to encase the dirt but switched to the covers to keep all rain water out.

This thread reminds me of North Jersey back in 1984-85......except we used telephones. The topic usually was yea, NYS&W filled in the wash out at Smoke Rise.....the old NYSW and the L&HR where part of a trackage rights route that could only be used if the Haulage Agreement was cancelled........
