Neat video.

How come the 8223 is still there (At least it looks like it's that number to me rather than the 8255, at the 2:53 mark)? I thought the lease was discontinued years ago.

Thank you for the info on the GE's....Speaking of a glut of them, there are more behind the plant here in Erie than I ever recall seeing!....The East Erie Commercial's yard is nearly full of CSX, UP, and NS units!....I know that GE is rebuilding so for the UP and NS, but there seems like too many f...

Does this neat little building at the Watertown fairgrounds have some rail heritage? Never really paid attention to it until the other day, despite having passed by it many times over 35+ years. https://goo.gl/maps/iCa6gCCx6WXDwMwt7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Wondering ...

I wonder if they'll do redoing any grade crossings in the North Country this summer. A lot of them are getting pretty rough. The crossing timbers on the Pine Street crossing in Potsdam for instance are almost completely disintegrated in the left turn lane onto the bypass.

Bumped this since I happened to check my post history and wondered if I had missed a response. I haven't had any luck, but there's hope. Someone on YouTube claims to own a vinyl record of the music that was released back then then, and is going to digitize it and post it to YouTube. Hopefully when h...

same argument , Ships need to carry sufficient lifeboats (by law) so would you take a cruise on a ship that only had half or non. same with window issue on trains and buses, rules change and the carriers will have too comply the argument about past accidents is moot, and no one can guarantee that n...

Not every short line can deal with six axle locomotives, so the surplus Dash 8's and Dash 9's aren't a fit for everyone. Been little market even for the four axle Dash 8's. Norfolk Southern not long ago for example sent scores of B32-8's to scrap since there just wasn't a market. They date from aro...

Some F40PHs have ended up in freight operation, being a glorified GP40 after all. In a lot of ways, a P42DC is a miniaturized Dash 9-40BW. On a scale from never to never, how likely is it that Geneses will enter freight or MOW service? Next to none. We're already reaching the twilight for GE's Dash...

If you're talking about the P40's, is there anything left on them of particular value? I don't know what shape they're in, parts-wise. But since it was publicized, I do know they served as parts donors for those rebuilt with stimulus funds several years ago, after storage out east had done a lot of ...

Caught her early this evening, about 4 hours late. Anyone know why the northbound Adirondack was running so late? I rather figured the timekeeping on this route would be better than I sometimes read about with some of the long distance routes, so I'm assuming today was a fluke rather than routine de...

It's perhaps not a full answer, but the Trains roster I've previously mentioned that reflects the line's roster as it stood on September 15th 1987, shows #3000 as in-service but for sale. So it would seem that at least one of the five was out there rolling (The article says she was "running on ...

Caught a couple trains lately and they were all widecabs. A bit unusual though were that both only had a pair of locomotives. Usually three or four seems to be the norm. They're also back to a GP40-2/road slug combination on the local (Slug is the #2222, which is a former B&O GP35). Saw that bri...
