About 20 miles west of Savannah sits the small town of Ellabell (GA). Google Earth imagery shows some type of manufacturing facility alongside the GA Central mainline about 2.5 miles east of town with an EMD switcher. Does anyone know what this place is and/or anything about the unit? Looking for mo...

Does the YVRR have any kind of operating schedule? Curious as to how often they run to Mt. Airy. Same for Wilkesboro.

[quote="erie2937"] Up at Daguscahonda there is no evidence of the connection to the PRR but there is a side road heading southeast off the main road which almost certainly is on the r-o-w. The bridge abutments and some old bridge timbers are clearly visible at Daguscahonda where the railro...

The line was removed in 2011. The GE 80-ton was still at the industrial park in September, 2011. I have checked since to see if it's still there.

There should be a re-powered Alco S1 there as well (Charleston)...#65-00626. I last saw it in 2009, but it was in service at that time and appeared to be well maintained. I visited this base for the first time in 8 years in September and saw USN 65-00132, which appears to be a former Baldwin VO1000 ...

What remains of this line (16.5 miles) is currently CSX's Long Fork Subdivision. The five tunnels on the line were: 1) Printer, 350' 2) Price, 812' 3) Long Fork No. 3, 352' 4) Hi Hat No. 2, 424' 5) Long Fork No. 5, 216' Only the first two remain in service...the remaining three are on the abandoned ...

Art,

NYC employee timetables show an attended Manual Block Station (telegraph call NI) at Youngsville on 9/26/48...closed by the 9/30/51 issue. Good bet that it was located in the depot, although I doubt we'll ever be 100% certain.

Actually, there's two of Hunkin-Conkey's locomotives from the Kinzua Dam construction that have been saved...in addition to the Youngstown Steel Heritage Foundation's GE 80-tonner, there's a Plymouth model JDT 15-tonner now residing at the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society's museum in North East...

Thanks for the correction and update on the #100 Pat. In case your wondering, I took the previous information from an old issue of Railpace... Quote (Railpace Newsmagazine, December, 2005 - page 45) - "In early October, S-2 100 was being readied for shipment to NRG, the operators of the former ...

In Larry DeYoung’s book ‘Erie Lackawanna in Color, Volume 2: New York State’, there’s a photograph (page 74) taken by the late Harry Scholz of an E-L detour train "on the Penn Central connection at North Corning". The caption goes on to read “the EL mainline is in the background, and the S...

Yes, that's correct.

If it was indeed ever connected, I was given bad information.

Dave, This was simply a spur track that was built to service the proposed industrial park that was to be located there at one time. From what I've been told, it was built but was never actually connected to the PRR/PC/CR track. Warren Rail Service bought the rail and removed it a few years ago for u...

PATERNO is the control point on the west side of Erie (MP 91.5) where the old main track (the remains of which are now called the "Erie Industrial Track") connects with the new trackage running alongside CSX.
