Thank you so much that really brings back some memories. I have a few pictures I took at this yard probably 30 or more years ago. I have family in Wyoming and I got dropped off in west Pittston and walked to the yard to look around. after I walked over the bridge and followed the line back to Wyomin...
Reply to Flounder.
I have not been up to that area for years but I do see the satellite images seem to suggest that it has been cleared out.
I will follow this thread but I would really be interested in your photo essay from 2006 if I could see your pictures.
I believe it is still operated by the Shamokin valley railroad and may still interchange with the north shore and Norfolk southern in Northumberland. North shore, and Shamokin valley are part of the SEDA-COG Joint rail authority. there is a lot of info on their website. Couple of years ago I rode on...
I believe I was in this place about 25 years ago when it was GSA. I recall seeing a small Plymouth or Davenport type of switcher there that was yellow and black. Can anyone help my memory with this it would be appreciated.
Thanks guys for the info.
I was watching some of the horseshoe curve webcam and a train 61N was described as a steel slab train daily from Farrel Pa. to Paulsboro N.J. Is it still 61N when in south jersey and what is the info on the steel slab loads? Where are they to and from, and what are they used to manufacture? Thanks f...
The Wanamaker Kempton and Southern has a nice ride if its running, depending on when you are there. The Reading Blue Mountain and Northern has some nice excursions out of reading and The Allentown and Auburn is in the area too. All of these have websites with schedules and info. Any pictures?
Where can I find out when this train runs down to pleasantville. I work in the area and would like to see it sometime.
What is the structure just visible in the distance down the service track to the right. just over the horizontal tank?
Thank you. This past summer my father passed away and he worked for the PRR for awhile at 30th Street station in the engineering department. and for the dispatchers office for a time. The only thing I know is that he drew some track diagrams and maps and I hope some day to find something he had done...
Thanks. I will look for that issue.
I believe it was called broadway. If you search for the old "black diamonds to tidewater" website there are a few pictures of the facility but there are'nt many pictures of it.
I don't know what kind of info you are looking for but the sanborn insurance maps are available.
Search the penn state archives and there are maps from 1920. You want volume two and I believe its page 152 has the turntable, roundhouse and yard facilities. have fun.
