Sorry to sound like an idiot but I don't feel like browsing all the topics on here...unless someone can provide me a link. You mean to tell me they are going to start construction in the near future? When was the approval made to start building out towards Andover? I really havn't been keeping track...
I wasnt aware that the signal bridge was still standing at W&N Jct....how far west was this from where the BIRD tower stood?

RRfoose,
I believe the SW-1500's were bought in the mid-late 90's. I can give you a better answer in a couples of days if you'd like.

As of right now....What is the schedule of Operations on the W&N and/or Octoraro?
I could be wrong, but I thought CN operated down to Mehoopany as well. Though to think of it, it probably wouldn't make any sense since they already have a presence in Scranton. Just NS operates into Mehoopany to interchange with the RBMN. Canadian Pacific is the railroad in Scranton (Taylor). Alth...
One of RBMN's locals makes its way to the Procter Gamble plant and the CN/NS interchange at Mehoopany, PA, arriving approx. 9:30AM. I think the branch they run up is limited to 25mph so they probably leave Pittston pretty early. The line parallels roads for a good distance and runs through some ver...

Although I did get a kick out of the story where the train runs down Frelinghuysen Avenue and hits a fire hydrant... :-D You...

And of course the instant blame was pointed to the engineer. NJT took a statement and was satisfied that the engineer operated with proper train handling, but Amtrak was trying to hang the engineer.... FYI for those of you in the freight world who are unfamiliair with modern passenger equipment, th...
From what I understand, the bridge was used by Eastern Steel to access an area across the river where they dumped some by-product of their production (slag?) - I don't know anything about the iron business so I can't even hazard a guess here. I believe that the bridge was accessed from their proper...
