Got a question from a local historian - "Need some help here IDing the train cars. The period is the early 1900s. They are at the south side of the Landis Ridge or Perkasie tunnel. The Reading crew posing at the southside of the Perkasie Tunnel in 1903." https://www.facebook.com/groups/905...

The conductors on the inbound Lansdale/Doylestown line usually have a stack of Independance Passes on them.
After they're used up they switch to the cash fare receipt.

I think the individual train tickets are good for 180 days or so.

Why is SEPTA so blind to the transportation needs north of Lansdale? Bump - well, let me chime in... Because they can. Quick background, my grandfathers had a coal and lumberyard in Sellersville, I currently have an office along Main Street in Telford which is 2 blocks north of the tracks. I'm back...

Also, on the Cascades Route, there should be increased service between SEA and VAC. These are two very large cities who only two round trips per day, I believe that from PDX to VAC they should increase service to once per hour or once every other hour. Eh, I've been on that route twice (from SEA to...

I'm still curious why they wanted to demolish it...does anyone know? I think the concern was that it could have been demolition to construct riverfront condos. Several years ago, there were plans to demolish then refurbish the nearby Shawmont Waterworks/Roxoborough Pump Station site, so this may be...

I need information about the location of stations on the above-mentioned PRR(not-RDG) line. Particularly, I would like to know if anyone has images of the the Shawmont Station. I am interested in determining how people accessed the station from Nixon St. Good question- check out http://www.philageo...

just trying to figure out when the former railroad that makes up the majority of the River Trail was abandoned (the portion that starts a few miles west of Manayunk then runs west to beyond Valley Forge). That's the Reading Division (Branch?) of the Pennsylvania Railroad. It's still active on the l...

The railroad alongside the canal in Manayunk looks like a great prototype for a model RR- industrial trackage, dipping under the bridges, etc. West of Conoshocken you go past a still active steel mill with a plant RR. When was this line abandoned? Who said it was abandoned? http://www75.homepage.vi...

Sorry for any confusion- but when I asked when was this line abandoned I was referring to what is now the trail between just west of Manayunck (sp?) to beyond Valley Forge. The line along the canal is in service- Georgia Pacific gets tank cars. There's a lot of neat features- e.g. a coal dump right...

Or, just go back to the old schedules with Norristown expresses and Bryn Mawr locals, and this wouldn't have been a problem. The only reason I can find for what happened is rampant cost-cutting combined with a lack of understanding of how to run a transit system. There is one person who is responsi...

Here's something you don't see every day- atleast, something I'd never seen before.... After a few seconds of "what's the beeping noise?" turned around, and see a SEPTA service trucks cruising through Market East backwards- actually got some stares and interesting looks from the commuters....

Why does everyone make this so complicated? Why not just have a diesel start at Norristown and go to Reading from there? Do we need all these loops and what if's to CC? Because a forced transfer reduces ridership by about half (depending on where you put the transfer--in the middle of the trip like...
