Thursday this past week I finally got a trip in on both Tri-Rail and Brightline, here are a few tidbits. Tri-Rail from Cypress Creek to Miami Airport was on time, clean and pleasant. we had a four car train, some trains are 4 cars and some are 3 cars. This is still a very good way to get out for a d...

Here's more good news at least for us.

Noel, Do you still have your time books for August and October 1955, especially the hurricane days? I have recently come into possession of many original and mimeo pages of "Unusual Occurrences " and stranded equipment reports for both storms and was wondering if any of your assignments m...

I was there and remember the biggest issue between the UTU and the company was crew consist. Basically the UTU was afraid of losing more members with reduced crew consists. We all lost as a result of that job action. Everybody in train and engine service got a big increase in their basic day's pay a...

But I can't remember his name!

"BLOOD MONEY" I remember this situation quite well, it took place while I was working for Metro North. I remember the conductor in question and there is no doubt he worked for every dollar he received. I believe the company figured they would rather pay out overtime than have more employee...

We have to remember that in the period of early diesels (road switchers) a way or a turntable was not considered important at least not on the New Haven nor the New York Central either. I seemt to think the B & A had a wye at NA Junction, occasionally the New Haven sent up a steam engine from Da...

I am still in a recovery situation but I am all right. Here is the latest from the Miami Herald.

Lew was a class act in every respect, a gentleman at all times and a great railroader. I remember him well at Oak Point.

i ran one or two detours over the Maybrook Line via Stevenson and although it worked, it took a lot of time, involved single track and a couple of extra trains will cause a lot of congestion. It is slow running as well. It could improve but it will take plenty of dollars that Connecticut does not ha...

I remember Lew quite well, he was also a trainmaster at Oak Point. He was a great common sense railroader and an absolute gentleman at all times. He was well liked and respected by just about everybody.

I remember the interlocking at BG from my early days firing. The crossovers were not used very much and at the end the tower was only open one trick a day Monday through Friday. The railroad did not have nearly the density of traffic back in the 60's that it has today so I think it can be a useful a...
