Re: CSX Selling Trackage

Would CSX consider selling the former SAL S-Line between Ridgeway, NC through Hamlet and Columbia to Savannah? How much freight is on this segment today? Are there any through trains that use it or are those on the parallel A-Line? The same could possibly hold true the former SAL Andrews Subdivision...

Re: The Stony Brook Branch

The rail dropped is between 303 and the west limits of 297, along the #1 between 297 and CPF-BY, then along the #2 from CPF-BY to CPF-NC, plus the single track between NC and 303. Any idea as to when the rail is to be installed? Will the Lowell Branch receive more rail between LJ and 297? This part...

Re: Pan Am Railways (PAR) Maintenance of Way (MoW) Activity

Looks from the posting that most of the new rail is for curves except for the two long stretches between 130.2-143 and 146.6-162.3. Which switch will be moving as a result of the lengthening of the siding, Penny or Blake?

Re: Pan Am Worcester Main Line

Does an ST crew move the train east from Burncoat? Is the power a combination of both CSX and ST units on the Q426/Q427 train or only CSX units?

Re: "Up North" Gawking (District 1 sightings)

For the most part, they wouldn't be replacing old CWR. It's nearly all stick rail from Yarmouth to Waterville I believe except maybe some sections near Yarmouth or on curves west of Danville Jct? It was suggested that some of the rail that could be removed as part of the BUILD grant could be re-pos...

Re: "Up North" Gawking (District 1 sightings)

Hopefully they will take the old rail they replace with grant money on the lower part of D1 and move it north. It might not be 25mph worthy anymore, but its certainly in better shape than the east end is and would at least sure things up for a "solid 10." It is not cost effective to move worn out r...

Re: "Up North" Gawking (District 1 sightings)

So the $538K is only budgeted for engineering costs. That's for about 72 miles of rail. Given that Danville Junction and Royal Junction are already done I would estimate the total project at about $80,000,000. What did they do to the Danville Junction and Royal Junction portion of the line? Suppose...

Re: Pan Am Worcester Main Line

The state is looking to significantly lower the risk of derailment in and around the reservoir with this project. Not sure that one can read any more into it beyond that. The track structure over the entire line is old and in need of replacement. It is surprising that the line is getting this much a...

Re: Pan Am Worcester Main Line

How often since CSX has been running up to the Hill Yard have ST crews run trains down to Barber? Are ST crews completing power swaps at Greendale again?

Does anyone know where train symbol "AER" goes or what that is?

Re: Pan Am Worcester Main Line

Dunno what it means, but ~1400/01-09-2019, CSXT 5368 plus an obscured trailer was dark about 100' W of the Burncoat Street crossing with a train that was well shy of New Bond. On the Greendale siding sat the Herzog equipment and KCIRs 7655(W) and 7620. Pre-0500, D-3 had spoken with a CSX crew about...

Re: The Maine Central Railroad Mountain Division

Any word on whether the estate of Clyde Forbes renewed the lease for the northern end of the Mountain Division? If not, could see Pan Am looking to formally abandon the entire line from Hazens or Whitefield to St. Johnsbury and dismantle all of the hardware soon there after.

Re: CMQ Profitability

Where is the new business in Canada? How much of the line has welded rail on it and how is the overall tie condition? Is Irving sending more of their westbound traffic over the CM&Q verses running via CN?

Re: CMQ Profitability

Was going to ask what Fortress is doing differently compared to the two previous owners, MM&A and Iron Roads. How much more of Irving's traffic is going via the CM&Q compared with years past?
