Now if i could just find one to buy at a reasonable price. Be nice if it had the red case like the one I had did. That radio received better than any scanners I have owned thru the years.

Does anybody remember what handhelds NS was using back in 1997/1998? I can only vaguely remember the one I had other than it was way better than the new ones they were switching over to. Those could barely tone up dispatch, where as my old red colored Motorola MT500 maybe? had no problem toning up d...

Wondering how long CN will leave the IC SD70's in the "death star" paint scheme? They make a natural good looking heritage unit, although most could use a good bath these days from the pics I see. They do seem to stay together as well with many double or tripple headed consists, but not al...

SInce I both live in Indiana and am a licensed Ham radio operator, I will chime in despite the age of the post. When I first started railfanning at 16, we got around the scanner crap by just having RR freq's in our scanners. That kept most officers happy. I usually railfanned with a couple other you...

Alco had a good foot hold in the switcher market, but the early teething problems with the 244 put them way behind the 8 ball market share wise with the cab units and road switchers. Had Alco properly beta tested the 244 or skipped that and got 251 project to fruitation much sooner(again with proper...

I have a pic at home, at work now, that shows 3000 without the pilot stripes and no rear horn, just the 3 chime above the engineer's window(that must suck noise wise)

I am getting a brass C430 ready for paint. I am modeling her as she was prior to pilot baricade striping and after the rear facing horn back by the radiators was removed. But with all 3 trumpets of the front horn(above the engineer's front window)facing forward, was there still a rear facing horn so...

Clarendon & Pittsford 306 roof details

I have a question on CLP #306's roof details. From video on youtube and pics there is something white in color centered on the cab roof behind the horn. Is this a radio antenna or a white strobe light. I am leaning toward an antenna as no other VTR engines have any extra lighting beyond head lighs/d...

One also has to look at who is putting on the show and what crowd of people they are trying to entice to attend. Take the Great Train Expo that has shows all over the country, its geared mainily toward the family, one with money however. The trains I saw at the Indianapolis show this past month, wer...

Here is a pic of my Prime beacon light that is the same as used on the GP18's and D8-40b's back in the late 80's. Also a few pics of the layout under construction. Last pic is of my wife's xmas present, she is a C&O/Chessie fan, so this old Alco models RSD7 is getting the full as delivered C&...

I stopped in at the LHS and picked up two Susquehanna Athearn blue box cars, one is a Bev-Bel yellow 4 bay coal hopper and the other is a greenway products bay window caboose in the bumblebee colors. That was all they in the home colors. I know Accurail has a hopper and I have seen others in the Sus...
