Has anything happened regarding what the beginning of the video below mentions concerning commuter rail to Falmouth and Hyannis? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQWfqd2xMI0 While the video mentions the trail to Falmouth could be removed as the state has the right to do so if the right of way width i...

Isn't it funny whenever the discussion of expanded rail passenger service is brought up that the politicians are jumping at the chance to bring "Public Subsidy" into the conversation yet, these same people who have districts where there are any major highways or airports in them at the sam...

MEC407's point is very valid and, there is more. What is not being presented publicly and never will be due to uncertainty are unforseen dynamics that can affect such decisions. I am employed by a world wide conglomerate and due to confidentiality/non disclosure policies, I cannot mention who it is....

After opening the document that Falmouth Secondary posted above, to save having to scroll through it, just hit
CNTRL+F on your keyboard and then enter "155" which will literally take you to where the rail portion of the document begins.

Nice job on the video. The bicycle path people are dreaming if they think they can pull this one off as the STB would have a problem with it from several angles. To boot, as has been mention by Falmouth Secondary, and others that MASS DOT has been continuing to do work is a pretty fair indicator of ...

A lot of well written information concerning the issues surrounding the dispute regarding the land. In the end, however, the only time "Eminent Domain" is filed is when the filing party DOES NOT own the property they are seeking. Hopedale tipped it's hand with that move which cannot be und...

One of the biggest issues that shippers have with rail is the transit times which when dealing with perishables that have limited shelf life can literally eat into a company's bottom line. My employer, whom I cannot name is a worldwide conglomerate that does use rail where they can but, on the other...

Thanks for all replies regarding Crane. I only asked as there is a spur off the Hillsboro branch that at least on the Google maps to be in fair shape.

Maybe whoever was there before Crane had rail service.

Out of curiosity, when was the last time Crane Currency got rail service on the Hillsboro Branch?

It will never be a railroad again. Environmental laws which were established long after the railroad was built ensure this. There are many railroads operating today that would not be allowed to be constructed under such regulations. Don't get me wrong by thinking that I'm against these laws as I'm n...

So, why did the work clearing the tracks toward Gold Medal Bakery and the waste water plant stop? This article from 2019 provides some clarity. https://www.heraldnews.com/story/news/2019/02/08/bid-for-state-money-to/6049057007/ You can't make this stuff up! I thought it was worth a note to GORAIL. N...

The article below shows that John Pearson, founder of Saltine Warrior, who also happens to be "retired" from the Mass Coastal Railroad, is indeed serious about a rail connection. The article specifically mentions that state "promised" to restore the line for both his business and...

My condolences to the users and listeners of these systems. I manage the radio system for my employer and deliberately won't use any of these digital radios due to the poor audio quality and enormous expense of them. I liken the sound to listening to someone trying to talk through a paper towel tube...

If nothing else, a small portion of the right of way will be preserved under the shed of Garfield Lumber who it appeared to have done so for the purpose of unloading lumber cars indoors. I haven't seen the inside of the shed so, I don't know if the tracks are still there. I remember sometime during ...

I have to wonder how many new short-line operations will be created once CSX gets done sorting out which routes don't meet their criteria regarding profitability. A thought along this line of thinking: the entire Hillsboro branch to the Milford & Bennington. Enough business from existing custome...
