With all due respect. We are grown ups not kids. We know better on where to stand & how far away we should be away from the train. Btw my fellow rail friends & colleagues aren’t happy with how the crews are behaving towards the rail fans & the locals in Lakewood. It’s not good if y’all ...

If it ever get off the ground and if it ever makes it to Pennsylvania Stroudsburg seems to be a much more realistic goal than going all the way to Scranton.

You would be correct. I'm hoping one of the members that were regular here when that link was posted may have saved it.

Taking a chance as that was 12 years ago.

Over the weekend, 29 ex-NJT "Comet I" cars with "BLDX" reporting marks led by Union Pacific 9789 (an ex-CNW GE C44-9W) came through suburban Chicago heading west toward their new Utah home on UP's busy Geneva subdivision. I later found out that they were actually headed to Color...

Comet Is passed through Woodbine, Iowa last Sunday. (Not my photo; caught by a fellow I know from the chatrooms I frequent.) Taking a chance here that Irish is still an active member or if someone saved the UP photo that was linked in this post from Woodbine, Iowa. It would have been a solo UP lead...

Use caution. Geeps are easily frightened and can suddenly attack if provoked.

I have been working on one myself. Its about a year old an still growing. The goal is to cover New Jersey and parts of CT, NY, PA, DE, MD that were influential to NJ rail traffic.

They say he will be confined to the yard but I don't know if that will hold up if NJT doesn't have a "yard engineer" position. Gallagher will resume his duties working in train yards, but will not be in passenger service, the board ruled. While he isn’t banned from operating trains with p...

The Comet IVs are dead as cab cars. They will never lead a revenue train again. With even more MLs coming there will be more comets displaced making more CVs cabs available. The CIV doesn't stand a chance.

For those keeping score, three of the six cars are shopped. Only the EL, CR and NJDOT cars remain in the train.

It also appears a second train is being made as there is a ML cab car in the MMC with Conrail decals on it. Maybe they'll clean this one before it's released to the public.

You are not going to see high speed switches around Summit. There is no need for them. It is such an important stop that, practically no train will ever skip it. It the train is stopping at or departing Summit the benefit of the high speed switch is non-existent. I also do not see moving the entire...

Re: NJT to lease AEM-7s and ALP-44s from SEPTA

I've never seen Comets and MLs in the same revenue train. Equipment moves, yes, but NJT does not mix them up. Now, in Boston MBTA does mix MLs and single level cars. NJT MLs utilize a trainline smoke detection and emergency intercom system that require cars with similar systems to be together. sinc...

There never was a ban, only a 6ML restriction.

On the NJCL, you'll see an occasional locomotive on the tail, probably an equipment move. A few nights ago I saw a six-car train pulled by an ALP45 with another ALP and a GP40 on the tail end. Interesting when you see an ALP46 tagging along below Long Branch, an all-electric loco in non-electric te...

Revisiting an old post with new information... In the last few months some NJT engineers have spotted survey crews taking measurements along the north side of the M&E between the East end of Dover Interlocking and the Rockaway Loop. Rumors (good old railroad rumors) seem to suggest that the new ...
