I know there is a railfan farewell excursion on the Long Island Railroad, but I heard from a fairly reliable source that there is a Metro North Commuter Railroad trip planned featuring the M1s. Any word on this? Also is there a set train everyday or time that I'm likely to find M1s? Sorry in advance...
Yes, the D, F, and the Q all run regular route all day and night long...
Is there a McDonalds around Croton Harmon?
LOL I think we got your point...
I volunteer at Coney Island Yards with railway preservation. Which means I work on museum cars within the confines of the largest subway yards in the entire nation. We rehabiltate, protect, preserve, and maintain most of New York City Transit Authority's museum fleet.
where do you guys meet?
The M8s are to be built by Kawasaki.
Are these shuttle buses free, if not is it the same exact fare system as if Metro North was providing train service?
Why not avoid all of this and take a raggedy ass ride on a comfortable MCI via NYAS
I realize that genies have those advantages over FL9s, however you compare them to what Jersey and full electrification is capable of, and they simply dont compete in today's market...
Ever wonder why it takes two FL9s to pull 8 cars and one genie? its called HEP
What are you doing to the acmus in terms of paint schemes and rehabilitation. Also if you need help with them, post something here, I'm sure you'll get at least 10 foamers who are good with tools volunteer.
The FL9s had their time in service, now its Genesis' turn to show what GE can do. With such slow propulsion rates, it isnt going anywhere too soon (pun intended)
Catenary is not required in NYS law, so the MTA will not opt for a more expensive method of electrification anytime soon in GCT.
Your best bet is to take a local BACK from the shop, and meet up with the group at GCT. I have been there before, and I have a fair idea of how to navigate on this trip.
Dutch we're talking about PSAT dates NOT the Croton Harmon OH. Thanks for looking out for us morons tho =]
